“On Friday, representatives of the power structures illegally stopped the official Belarusian Free Trade Union (SPB) event registered in Belarus and detained more than 30 people. Four students remained in detention,” the Coordinating Council’s Telegram channel reported.
The report indicates that three students, Vladislav Kalkov, Sofia Marhunova and Stanislav Sianiukevich, have been detained for 15 days and Kriscina Miranenka for 14 days. They were charged with disobedience to a legal order or an officer’s claim.
Among the conference participants initially detained were Coordinating Council members Vitalis Rymašeuskis and Andrejus Jahoravas.
“What happened is not only arbitrariness, but also great stupidity, because this union works quite legally,” said V. Rymašeuskis.
The Coordination Council announced that the SPB, together with its lawyers, would appeal against these court decisions and transmit all the information to “international organizations, including the International Labor Organization (ILO)”.
