The State Food and Veterinary Service has already established that in the Vilnius Duke Gediminas Progymnasium, Brunera chefs kept consecrated meat from which food could be prepared.

After the scandal, which was first reported by LRT radio, another former Brunera chef turned to LNK. The woman is afraid of being persecuted, so LNK decided not to reveal her identity.

The former chef says he was forced to prepare food for the children with spoiled products.

“Sour cream, for example, I haven’t seen a store to buy. You put a spoonful in the soup, it’s not there. I don’t know where they get that food from. You open a cube of tomato sauce or mayonnaise, it’s moldy. there’s nothing left to do, put it on, skim that top and voila. I’ve seen it multiple times, “he said.

The woman said that one kilogram of pure minced meat had to be turned into three kilograms of dough from which cutlets for children were baked.

“That dough includes a dry bread that is soaked in water, then placed in a meat grinder and ground, with onions, garlic and lots of spices. Add semolina, starch. This should result in a mass of three kilograms. It is not meat, it is that mass. Leftovers are also used, the chops are ground into common masses of everything, ”said the former Brunera chef.

The LNK interlocutor said that from that lunch the child she knew had been poisoned, the woman could not hurt herself with the food.

“I myself was poisoned. My acquaintance’s child was poisoned, I even needed to connect the drops. They wrote complaints, the parents were together and nothing. I got home, I didn’t eat anything anymore, it was so bad for me. I vomited all night” , said.

According to a former Brunera employee, the chefs were laid off during their school holidays and rehired when they were over. Or they were forced to vote.

Šarūnas Orlavičius, Head of the Labor Law Division of the State Labor Inspectorate, explained that the employer does not have the right to do so.

“It just came to our attention then. Perhaps those workers can be relocated during student leave to another location where a human chef is needed to perform, or perhaps both parties can agree to continue working. Dismissal on this basis would, in my initial assessment, be , certainly illegal, ”said Š. Orlavičius.

Bruneros agreed to contact LNK only in writing.

Rima Vinčaitė, general director of the institution, did not comment on the former employee’s words. And she stated that children’s food is prepared in accordance with all hygiene requirements.

“We understand that any denial from us will seem unconvincing to the audience, but we emphasize that the food is prepared in accordance with all the rules and requirements. You cannot even talk about any of the above violations; it is important to us that the children receive food delicious, complete and of high quality prepared according to all the rules ”, wrote R. Vinčaitė in his responses to LNK.

According to the general director, people work in accordance with the laws of the country, Bruneros also distributed a letter to the parents of Vilnius Duke Gediminas Progymnasium students. Ensures that children receive quality food.

However, the State Food and Veterinary Service does not agree with such statements.

Brunera produces food for 163 Lithuanian schools. They carried out 32 inspections in a few months and confirmed 14 complaints.

A couple of years ago, Bruneros was involved in a scandal, and the poor quality of the food they provided outraged the participants of the Song Festival. But this time, the body won the courts. Bruneros, formerly known as “Kretinga Food”, was embroiled in a scandal over the shortage of hospital supplies.

“If it is the facts that are made public, it is really a crime. This is not the first time this company has been mentioned. Probably everyone will remember it and in the context of restoration in health centers it has been talked about many times, certainly not for the better. It seems strange to me that the company itself does not draw conclusions ”, commented the Minister of Health, Aurelijus Veryga, about the information in the media.

The Office of Public Procurement (PPS) explains that if inspectors detect serious violations by food vendors, a school or kindergarten has the right to include them on untrustworthy establishment lists, they are publicly available online.

Laimis Kuklierius, head of the risk management department of the VPN, stated that the progymnasium Bruneros mentioned above could be included in such a list.

“The fact that food has been able to supply waste could be a fundamental gap. Because hygiene standards do not contemplate it ”, said the expert.

According to the specialist, since 2016 92 companies have been included in the list of unreliable suppliers. This means that service providers are slow to complain about their recipients. According to the expert, educational institutions are often afraid to terminate contracts with food providers for fear of losing the courts.
