On Wednesday, this project, presented by Rita Tamašunienė, a member of the Seimas representing the Lithuanian Polish Electoral Action Union of Christian Families (LLRA-KŠS), broke the first step in the Seimas: approval after presentation. The amendments to the law stipulate that people over 70 must be reimbursed for medicines and medical aids and the person should not have to pay more.

If there is a difference between the basic price of reimbursable medicines or medical aids and the retail price of reimbursable medicines or medical aids, this difference will be reimbursed to individuals from the budget of the Compulsory Health Insurance Fund.
The amendments to the law are expected to improve the quality of life for older people and generate more income for basic needs.
The conservative Mykolas Majauskas, chairman of the Budget and Finance Committee of the Seimas, currently proposed to evaluate the possibilities of the budget to implement such amendments, but in the future he suggested that all retirees should have access to free medicines and medical supplies.
According to the calculations of the authors of the amendments to the law, their implementation will require about 5 million. by year.
