We are already fourth in the group of countries of the European Union, European Economic Area and the United Kingdom in terms of morbidity. Only Luxembourg, Croatia and Slovenia are ahead of us.

Neighboring countries, although they cannot boast extremely low morbidity rates, are far from equal to Lithuania. For example, in Latvia the morbidity rate is 335.4, in Estonia it is similar – 336.6, in Poland, which has already sounded the alarms due to the increase in morbidity – 676.9.

So can the Lithuanian population travel to other countries, even neighboring countries, where morbidity rates are three times lower, with such a drastic increase in morbidity?

The acting Minister of Health, Aurelijus Veryga, when asked if it is possible to travel to other countries, suggested looking at the procedures applied in each state; they may differ.

“You may need to come in with a negative coronavirus test for a period of time.

But for every state you want to go to, you need to check it out. Keep in mind that conditions can also change: adjustments can occur and what is today may already have changed tomorrow as a result of the decisions of your governments.

“It is only for anyone planning to go somewhere; if such questions arise and you cannot find information on the official websites of those countries, you can ask our Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA),” recommended A. Veryga.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs recommended evaluating the need to travel to foreign countries, taking into account the WHO coronavirus pandemic, state restrictions on movement and border crossings to control the spread of the virus, state restrictive measures and national quarantine in the territory of the Republic of Lithuania.

However, if immediate travel is necessary, we strongly recommend that familiarize yourself with the entry conditions and other restrictive measures in the country and transit countries that may affect travel plans and travel safety before traveling. It is also recommended to consider potential risks to travelers due to their age, health and access to adequate medical treatment abroad before traveling.
