“Civil servants are certainly an important part of society, which is given priority to vaccination, but they must be vaccinated against other previously named groups, because they are at higher risk of developing a very serious form of the disease or dying,” said Salud. Minister Aistė Šuksta.

“We hope that by joining forces, both the vaccination centers and the SAM, the above priorities will be vaccinated as soon as possible, and then we can move very quickly to those with critical functions,” he said.

A. Bilotaitė earlier this week called for the immediate vaccination of 7.9 thousand. officials who perform their duties by contact.

According to the minister, doing so is vital as officers work on the front lines of the pandemic and ensure compliance with quarantine requirements.

Under the current COVID-19 vaccination plan, officials serving in the statutory offices of the Minister of the Interior are in the last priority group before moving on to mass vaccination of the population.

The Ministry of Health has been asked to transfer the agents who respond to the calls, as well as to carry out public order work, firefighting work, work at border control posts, bodyguards, forensic, detention and investigation institutions prior to trial, to a higher priority group leaving other officials in the queue as provided in the Ministerial Order.
