According to the director of the laboratory, if necessary, the tests can be carried out at night, but the laboratory, unlike Vilnius, will not work 24 hours.
“We will not work around the clock in Kaunas, we will adjust to the flight schedule, but of course, if the traffic intensifies, we will work longer.”

Wait for recovery
Tadas Vasiliauskas, representative of Lithuanian airports in the media, expects the airports to gradually recover from the beginning of the summer season. According to him, passenger flows currently represent only 15-20 percent of previous flows before the pandemic.
“With regard to traffic, we live in tensions at airports. Flows reach the usual flows by 15-20 percent, but with the start of the summer season and the acceleration of the vaccination and testing process, in some countries believe that there are certain opportunities for this gradual recovery from the beginning of the summer season ”, said T. Vasiliauskas.
In Kaunas, as in Vilnius, the paid tests will be performed by the medical laboratory research company Rezus.lt, which has won the competition.
The winning company will carry out at least three types of tests: PCR, rapid PCR and rapid antigen tests. It is envisioned that as opportunities in testing markets expand, the types of testing at airports may also expand.
Certificates and e-health
The Ministry of Health (SAM) announces the development of a new electronic certification functionality for people vaccinated with COVID-19. in health. A certificate is also prepared for travelers with a negative response to laboratory tests for COVID-19 disease.

A person arriving or returning to Lithuania from a foreign country may present these documents before entering a vehicle that carries passengers on regular, special and charter routes of international traffic.
Both certificates are bilingual, prepared in Lithuanian and English. If it is not possible to connect to the e-health portal (for example, a person does not have an electronic signature or means of authentication through the banking system), it is recommended to ask medical institutions to issue certificates.

The Ministry recalls that these certificates could also serve so that travelers can benefit from the applicable isolation exemptions: in this case, they must present these certificates to the specialists of the National Public Health Center at the airport or seaport so that they do not have to isolate. If the documents are presented at an airport or seaport, the isolation exemption will apply immediately.
