A farewell ceremony will take place over two days, Sunday and Monday, with Professor Petras Bingelis, a leader and director of the Kaunas State Choir, who left us unexpectedly on December 6 last year.

The urn with the ashes of the deceased was fed in the concert hall of the Kaunas State Philharmonic, which had seen many moments of Maestro’s artistic triumph.

On Sunday, all those who wish to pay tribute to Mr. Bingel and express their condolences to his family are welcome at the Philharmonic from 10 am to 8 pm.

Maestro, who has been conducting the ensemble for more than 50 years, was honored by the Kaunas State Choir, singing the conductors. a cappella hymns and performing the magnificent Requiem by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, who accompanied Bingel throughout his conducting career.

On Monday it will be possible to say goodbye to the Master from 9 am to 11 am, after which the funeral procession will go to Kaunas Street. the Basilica of the Archcathedral of the Apostles Peter and Paul, where at 12 noon. will be considered St. Mass.

P. Bingelis’ creative career was marked by various activities: internships at the Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy High School, work in the Vilnius Wind Orchestra “Trimitas”, the men’s choir “Varpas” and the Kaunas State Musical Theater. The pedagogical activity was one of the main directions of the activity of P. Bingelis. After starting work at the Lithuanian State Conservatory, he became one of the initiators of the establishment of the Kaunas Faculty. Thanks to his efforts and those of his colleagues, a higher music school appeared in Kaunas, which later became the Vytautas Magnus University Music Academy. P. Bingelis was a professor in the Department of Music Theory and Pedagogy, led the department for a long time, served in the Senate of Vytautas Magnus University, and trained a group of talented choir conductors and conductors.

In addition, P. Bingelis was president of the MK Čiurlionis Society of Kaunas, long-time president of the E. Grieg Society, a member of the Lithuanian Musicians’ Union and a member of the Kaunas City Municipal Council.
