On Saturday it was officially confirmed that foreign fans will not be able to compete in the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics. The decision was made to ensure the safety of the Games participants and the Japanese population and to prevent the growth of coronavirus cases in the country.

To celebrate a safe and successful Olympic Games, the organizers take strict measures. It was previously announced that COVID-19 testing will be mandatory for both athletes and delegations prior to departure, upon arrival at an airport in Japan and before settling into an Olympic village. Participants in the Olympic Games will also be screened for the coronavirus during their stay at the Olympic Village.
Athletes will be able to arrive at the Olympic Village only 5 days before the competition and leave within 48 hours after the end of their competition.
A mobile app is being developed to help track the movements of Olympic participants in Tokyo. It will be mandatory for both athletes and members of delegations.
The Tokyo Olympics will be held from July 23 to August 8.
