Expert evaluates images of Brigitte Macron and Diana Nausėdienė: unexpected coincidence

Not all fashion experts dare to talk about the image of the first couples, but Marija Palaikytė, fashion trends analyst, takes a clear position: the image of high-ranking people should be entrusted to professionals and thought up to the most minimal detail. After all, what the authorities wear is not just clothing, it is a powerful means of communication.

The 67-year-old Macron can raise a lot of questions about the image of passions in particular: the president’s wife has an exceptional style, often ignores the rules of protocol, is not afraid of criticism, and as a woman of solid age, dresses brightly and boldly.

Furthermore, the dress of the first lady, especially during visits abroad, often takes on a special function of diplomatic relations, becoming an example of respect for local culture. Therefore, the norms and traditions of a particular cultural aesthetic are respected.

Together with a fashion expert, we observed the images of the first couple in France from the first minutes when they got off a private plane. While ordinary people choose comfortable clothes for flights, unfortunately, completely different rules apply to key political players.

As usual, E. Macron left the plane in a solid suit and his wife chose a slightly looser outfit: a pair of pants and a classic sweater, covered her shoulders with a royal blue coat and wore high heels.

Ms. Palaikytė noted an interesting nuance: the president of France chose to wear a three-piece suit (with a vest). This is quite rare on visits of this range and among presidents.

“Generally, three-piece suits and double-breasted closures are not chosen. Simpler and clearer solutions are being sought. A leader’s dress should not emphasize his overemphasis on dress and elitism. Clothing should be specific, giving the impression of a safe, orderly and trustworthy person. Because he is a representative of the nation, the main person who represents the state, ”said M. Palaikytė.

Speaking of the image of Brigitte, the fashion analyst did not skimp on the compliments of a correctly chosen coat color – it became a great accent of the “travel” image.

Formal meeting in the Presidency

One of the biggest surprises that the Lithuanian and French first ladies demonstrated during the official meeting at the Presidential Palace was the color combination of the clothes. Both Diana and Brigitte chose to wear blue dresses, although their shades were different. D. Nausėdienė chose a more intense and darker blue color, and B. Macron used the blue color that he loved so much.

“Choosing blue is a decision that has been made, because it is the color of diplomacy. Men’s suits, formal wear are not sewn with blue fabrics for no reason. It is scientifically proven that the color blue is neutrally understood in all cultures and does not evoke negative thoughts. It is a color that conveys reliability, safety and stability ”, said M. Palaikytė.

The fashion analyst added that blue is official 2020. color published by the Pantone Color Institute. And the color of the year has become a coincidence: given global problems, the color blue gives us a sense of stability.

Although both women chose similar shades, it is clear that choosing different stylists results in a different result. According to a fashion expert, this may depend on the cultural and aesthetic norms of the country, as well as the personal attitude of the first ladies towards fashion, the rules of formal dress and individual style.

“French Aesthetics: A lighter and shorter silhouette, although lengths shorter than above the knees are not traditionally recommended. Our first lady means modesty, modesty, minimalism, ”said M. Palaikytė.

When discussing the image of B. Macron, the fashion expert noted that the Frenchwoman remained true to her style, choosing a more daring dress length. In an age where rules are increasingly being broken and individuality is played on the first violin, First Ladies increasingly transcend the boundaries of dress protocol. And although the fashion analyst hinted that the first lady’s makeup could be less intense, more subtle, Brigitte’s overall image remained modest and elegant.

The only question Palaikytė asked was: why didn’t the French First Lady take off her coat in a closed room?

Judging by the image of the first lady of our country, the fashion connoisseur was pleased with the color of the perfectly chosen dress and the official length corresponding to the protocol outfit. D. Nausdienillusion kept her minimalist image, she looked solid and confident. One of the things that M. Palaikytė would recommend changing is the color of the shoes. They said they fit more into the Lithuanian president’s tie than the president’s dress.

Another comment made by the expert is the wrong choice of the silhouette of the clothes. “The silhouette of a garment allows you to optically change the proportions of your figure. I think that in the case of the first lady, this magic of clothing is not exploited. The upper part of the dress, although it is the result of a modern haircut and a creative solution, visually diffuses the silhouette. Maybe the dress looks great live, but it is not suitable for a photographic lens, ”said M. Palaikytė.

Since Ms Macron did not change her outfit after landing on the plane, Palaikytė only supplemented her ideas by saying that combining a color was a welcome decision, even the color of the president’s tie was almost identical to the color scheme. of the suit. “However, a three-piece suit is not a particularly formal choice and there are additional pockets. A surprisingly liberal choice for such a formal gathering, ”said the fashion trends analyst.

The President of Lithuania chose a classic and confident image, and the cufflink shirt elevated the costume to a more festive level. Ms. Palaikytė praised the president for a properly structured image that, according to world practice, is not always understood by high-ranking politicians. The length of both the sleeves and the pants, everything, according to the expert, was appropriate.
