Share impressions and recommendations
“We live in a” compact “country with good roads, with which we can easily reach the most remote corners of our country while having fun”, A. Dotas encourages the determination to travel within the country.
According to him, he first traveled with this bike in May 2018, but then in a hurry, the little travelers who were traveling together had to miss a number of interesting places, so the desire to return continued to grow.
“We have visited the sights spread out between Vilnius and Kaunas over the past two years, both on longer and shorter trips. There have been many impressions, recommendations that I really want to share.
We will present the whole trip and its history in sections, which, as if combining Lego blocks in a creative way, adjusting to your wishes and possibilities, you can create your own version of this route ”, he explains.
Briefly about the route:
• Circular route (you can start the route from a convenient place for you);
• Route by car;
• Duration of the trip: 8-9 hours;
• Distance traveled: about 200 km;
• Payable items on the route: Čiobiškis-Padaliai ferry (5 Eur./car).
The construction site led to the search for alternatives
The interlocutor recalls that the first idea for this part of the trip was motivated by the summer situation on the Vilnius – Kaunas highway. He jokes that if you’ve had to drive on this road at least once lately, you’ve probably experienced the “highway” turning into a “slow road”, maybe even a slalom track. According to him, the huge construction site lasts almost 100 kilometers, which led to the search for alternative paths to avoid road repairs and at the same time visit interesting places along the way.

“By leaving the highway in Rykantai and driving just a couple of kilometers, you will reach the only Vilsas stream in Lithuania with natural waterfalls. The waterfalls change every year: some disappear, new ones appear in other places. The great waterfall of the Vilsas stream is about 1.5 meters high, after which it can also be touched. The creek is spring fed so the water is very, very cold, but very clean. When you arrive, leave the car at the beginning of the forest, and up to the waterfall that runs through the forest (approximately 1 km. The signs of the path will accompany you) do not be lazy to walk a little more and reach the point where the Vilsas stream flows into the Neris. You can reach this place by a path that winds along the banks of the stream. Walking along the path you will be able to enjoy a mature forest, ancient oak trees and a stream that flows vigorously between the boiled trees ”, he advises, emphasizing that your choice of entertainment can be both the beginning and the end of the route.
One of the most impressive panoramas of Lithuania opens
According to Dot, you shouldn’t be in a rush to get back on the highway when you travel further afield. From Rykantai, reach the Paneriškės cliff tourist road on the old stone road. The interlocutor warns that you have to be careful when driving on this road, as the road is not smooth and some boxes can be dangerous for the car at higher speeds.
“The panorama that opens from the cliff on the left bank of the Neris near the town of Paneriškės is one of the most impressive in Lithuania. From here you can see the forested valley of the Neris, the islands and shoals that form in the riverbed. You’ll have to walk a bit towards the view, but it’s definitely worth it. The observation deck has a modern table for two. This table, the panoramic view of Neris behind you and the one behind you is a perfect combination for one of the most beautiful travel photos ”, assures the traveler.

Abromiškės and Elektrėnai
According to the interlocutor, as the journey continues and after returning to the road, another detour is Abromiškiai and Elektrėnai. It says that in the 19th century, the Abromiškė mansion was considered one of the most beautiful and well-organized Lithuanian mansions, it had an active cultural life, a valuable library and a collection of paintings. 1812 June 27 On the way to Vilnius, even Napoleon himself spent the night in the Abromiškės mansion.

“Unfortunately, the changing owners, the Soviet era and finally the fire, severely destroyed the mansion. Currently, the mansion and the surrounding park are still maintained, the manor house is being restored. On the way to the city center of Elektrėnai, pay Attention to Elektrėnai St. Church of Queen Mary of the Martyrs.
The church in modern form is a royal symbol of Elektrėnai. It is also known for the fact that shortly after construction, in 1997. in the fall, a storm brought down 2 decorative church towers. Only in 2004 were the pylons rebuilt. Did you know that the municipality of Elektr municipionai, as well as Elektrėnai itself as a city, is one of the youngest in Lithuania?
Elektrėnai was founded in 1960, when the construction of a thermal power plant in empty fields begins. The city of block houses was created by the architects Kazimieras Bučas and Birutė Kasperavičienė at that time. The foundations of the first house in Elektrėnai were laid in 1960. June 29 So this year, the city halfway between Vilnius and Kaunas, is celebrating its 60th anniversary, ”he mentions an important date.

Entertainment offered by Elektrėnai
According to A. Dotas, the water reservoir, now called Laguna Elektrėnai, was created by flooding the Strėva River. Elektrėnai Lagoon is a favorite spot for sailors and other aquatic entertainment enthusiasts. During the summer, the beach of the Elektr lanai lagoon is full of people lounging here. The shore of the lagoon has been adapted for this purpose, various infrastructures for recreation and active entertainment have been installed. It is said that due to electrical activity, the water in the lagoon is always one degree warmer than other lakes, so for those who like warmer water for swimming, this is a good place to swim or relax a little bit.
“Elektrėnai Ice Palace is exceptionally the first ice rink in Lithuania. The “Dynamic Labyrinth” fountain is installed in the city square in front of the municipal administration. Although it flashes in different colors during the day, its effect during the day is small. The fountain shines in all its beauty at dusk. For those who want to see the beauty of the Dynamic Labyrinth
Continuing the journey to Kaunas, there are other good places to get off the highway:
• Žiežmariai, Žiežmariai synagogue
• Kaišiadorys
• Kruonis gravitational hill
• Mergakalnis observation deck
• Rumšiškės
• Palemon cognitive trail
However, the destination of our trip is not Kaunas. Plans include the desire to see and visit the Čiobiškis – Subdivision ferry again and a number of other really interesting places in this direction. So our route from Elektrėnai is in the direction of Žasliai. It is true that those who want to see even more can choose an alternative route and reach Žaslius via Žiežmariai and Kaišiadorys. This is another detail of our Lego route, which you will decide whether or not to join the route ”, he assures.
Rhino and The concept
The interlocutor says that, as they continued, the travelers also visited Little Trakai, so it is often called Žasliai, located in the Kaišiadorys district between three lakes. According to him, Žasliai was first mentioned in historical sources in 1457, and the city is famous for the fact that Jewish, Polish and Lithuanian communities lived here. According to A. Dotas, the old streets and buildings of the city, the town square will restore memories of ancient communities, their history and life.

“It was not possible to visit the old Jewish cemetery of Žasliai during the trip. First of all, the only way to get to this place was excavated by the builders who built communications in the city. When we decided to walk a few hundred meters, the plans were they saw altered by nature itself: we were swept away by a powerful summer rain.
Another travel plan was not fully implemented in the Žasliai area: find and take photos of interesting city names. While browsing the map in the Žasliai neighborhood, you can see villages with unique names, for example Good night Arkansas Fish, only one could find the mark and take a photo – The concept“, The interlocutor remembers.

Ferns and Budeliai mound
According to him, although only the “old” ensemble of the Dominican monastery can be found in Paparčiai, it is still worth visiting here. The territory of the former monastery is neat, there is a parking lot, there are information booths. Explain that Near Paparčiai there are two mounds – Žydkapis and Pilies kalnas, there is a wooden church of St. Bishop Stanislaus and St. Francis of Assisi in Paparčiai, in the cemetery – a rare building in Lithuania – a columbarium with 24 seats.
“Another navigation instruction is the Budeliai mound. Here we have learned the lesson that navigation cannot be blindly trusted and the proposed route must be verified. The proposed shortest path was certainly not the best, but it was very beautiful. I don’t drive very far on the harvester and tractor roads, so after taking a few photos to remember the adventure and capturing the fabulously beautiful rye fields that merge with the sky, we returned to Paparčiai to find the right path.
If you’re not roaming the rye, the Budeliai Mound is easily accessible. From the road that leads to the Čiobiškis-Padaliai ferry across the Neris, without accessing the ferry, you will see a sign directing you to the mound. The mound is located on the bank of the Neris and rises in several steps. From above there is a wide panorama of the curves of the Neris, which is even difficult to fit in the lens of the camera ”, he comments.

Searches and dangers of the Čiobiškis cave
The traveler says that the Padaliai-Čiobiškis ferry is a cable car that works with current and does not have motors or oars. According to him, only a strong steel rope supports the ferry, and the current of the river Neris carries it to the other shore, and even two cars can be lifted by ferry at the same time, but even with such a heavy load, the ferry is surprisingly quiet, unhurried. . This ferry dates back to 1935. The ferry transport is paid and the price is 5 Eur. Car, but there is no charge for passengers traveling together.
“After moving to the other bank of the Neris, we continued our journey towards Čiobiškis. This time our goal is not the city itself, but our lost place on the previous trip: the Čiobiškis cave. Although there is a lot of information about the cave on the Internet, neither the information booth nor the links to this place could be found. Maybe especially (the cave is not safe and is hidden from the curious who are afraid of it), or maybe it just happened like that, but finding the cave is not that easy. Therefore, it is not known whether this place can be called interesting, but it is really interesting and rare in Lithuania.

That there is something interesting in the forest found by coordinates reveals a very busy track. It leads to a cave with a depth of almost 10 meters. Inside, there appear to be two rooms: interconnected lands. At the entrance, its height is one and a half meters. Geologists warn that the cave could collapse at any moment. So there should be no irresponsibility in this place. The walls of the cave are made of layers of natural cemented sandstone. When the groundwater level dropped, the loose parts of the sand washed under the sandstone and the earth split open. The cave entrances and now abound in loose sand, which washes up in a nearby stream. The cave, the sand and the sloping climbing grass that grows on the rocks create a really interesting image, ”he shares his impressions.
Musninkai is the little capital of Lithuanian culture in 2020
According to him, arriving at Musninkai from Čiobiškis, on the outskirts of the city, there is a three-story brick chapel for Queen Barbora Radvilaitė, just off the road. The Barbora Chapel is said to have been built by Barbora Radvilaitė herself, who miraculously survived the movement through the flooded Muse. A. Dotas says that the central axis of the city is the neo-Gothic Musninkai St. The Church of the Trinity, consecrated in 1865, has valuable wooden Neo-Baroque altars.
“Next to the church, it is impossible not to notice the unique dark wood building: the bell tower. According to the information panel next to the bell tower, it was built in 1868 from the wood of the old church that was in this place.

Continuing the journey from Musninkai to Vilnius, we approach Kernavė. You should devote yourself to seeing, walking and experiencing all day. After a long and interesting day, you will hardly find the strength and the time to get to know Kernavė, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. However, we have identified at least one Kernavė object and have included it in the route, it is the White Mountain viewpoint, which offers a wide and impressive panorama of the Neris circuit ”, he explains.
Crying
A traveler on vacation in Lithuania also visited another tourist spot – Verkšionis. According to him, from the high cliffs of the river Neris, from the observation platforms in the territory of the café “Pušinėlis” there is a great view of the bend of the Neris and the green pine forests on the other side of the Neris. You can have a snack.He emphasizes that the wooden observation deck and stairs leading to the Neris have already been significantly replaced, so care must be taken.

Tourist route along the left bank of the Neris
At the end of the trip, the portal guide offers to visit – the tourist route of the left bank of the Neris. Cycling is recommended, but can also be visited by car. According to the interlocutor, these are a wonderful 15 additional kilometers that meander along the banks of the Neris and provide striking views, and this stretch is rich in tourist complexes, information posts and other tourist infrastructure.
“And to complete the route” P (r) distraction between Vilnius and Kaunas “, we offer another, and to the fifth route, the observation deck of the river Neris – Ausiutiškių regykla”, – shares the last place of interest.
