On Monday, the LRT announced that Evelina Sashenko, who was supposed to participate in this year’s Eurovision national team, will not be heard. When contacting the artist 15 minutes, who confirmed this message and regretted that the pandemic was to blame for the failed plans.
It turns out that E.Sašenko lives in Trakai, so due to the restrictions introduced in the movement between municipalities, it would be difficult for him to go to Vilnius to rehearse and meet with the team working on the acting. When Evelina applied, the restrictions were not yet in place, the woman was still waiting for the situation to improve before the start of the selection.
“It may sound funny, but it would not be very possible to get to Vilnius, and to prepare well, you still need to go to the studio, meet the same set designers, etc. It is impossible to rehearse everything. Although there is a lot of desire, it is not a matter of rehearsing ”. 15 minutes the reasons for the decision to withdraw from the selection E.Sashenko explained.

Evelina says that she considers rehearsals in Vilnius to be a necessity in this case, because she does not want to participate in the “Eurovision” selection without preparation. The artist admits that a decade ago, when she won the selection, she initially did it more to attract attention, but this time she took participation much more seriously.
“Now I am one of those people who does well or nothing. They are no longer 18 to dive upright and only attend to participate. Over the years, I have still formed a group of people who are interested in my work, so this super fame does not take much. If I go, it’s only to win. I may have said it out loud, but this time I would like to see myself differently, ”Evelina smiled.
He added that he was glad the organizers were understanding when they decided not to participate, so there were no difficulties with that.
This year, E.Sašenko had to perform in the selection with the song “We Are Strong”, which also has a Lithuanian version of “Prayer”. The work, according to the artist herself, is very suitable for this period that the world is going through, which disappoints her due to the circumstances. However, he hopes that the song, which will be released soon, will be loved by listeners without selection.
It is true that the work was not written for Eurovision. Only later, after it was recorded, was it decided that it was suitable for this competition.
“The song turned out to be quite memorable for me, I thought, why not, maybe here is a sign that you should participate,” recalled the interlocutor.
By the way, E. Sašenko’s performance on the big “Eurovision” stage in Düsseldorf, where the artist was ranked 19th, is exactly ten years old this year. After that, Evelina kept saying “no” to another attempt at this competition. Why did you change your mind this time?

“Now, the further away, the greater the nostalgia for those times, because really the faina was there to assist. Somehow I didn’t want to go through that psychological moment again, but now the time has obviously come when all the bad things have been forgotten and only the best memories remain. Also, all that sitting at home, the desire to go to the concert made me turn my head and I filled out the questionnaire with ease, ”said E. Sašenko.
He does not rule out the possibility of tasting happiness in the national team next time. However, he repeated what he said at the beginning of the conversation: You will only participate if you feel ready.
“Now I can say that I would like to return again, but I want to return with the right song, duly prepared, with the team so that everything is professional and I leave with the idea that we will not play but that we will show the best result and I hope to win” , he assured.
And the current time, when there are no more concerts, E.Sašenko uses for creativity. It is true that she laughs at the pandemic initially with pleasure, since for the first time in her life she rested singing. But three months later, that break is already boring.
“Then I felt that the rest was enough for me, I needed to drink something, because the fact that I was not working, I was not doing what I was used to, the ceiling was falling. It was then that I started writing songs, although I hadn’t done it until now. Apparently some kind of cleansing took place, the inner chakras opened and during that time I created a lot, ”Evelina said.
