More recently, the Russian public has done the same, according to the news portal metronews.ru.

On April 22, the final of the alternative competition “Our Eurovision” took place, organized by the largest group of Eurovision fans in Russia. Lithuanian representatives on The Roop, as in the previous online vote, took first place.

The competition, organized by the Russians, had the same conditions as the official one: both “experts” and spectators from various countries voted, and live performances of the presentations took place on the Internet. Switzerland ranked second in the overall standings and Russia ranked third.

Vkontakte, the largest group of fans of the Russian Eurovision song contest, has gathered an impressive number of members, more than 300 thousand. The alternative competition “Our Eurovision”, according to Andrejs Kožinas, the group moderator interviewed by Metro News, has a great team. The competition, organized by the Russians, had its own director, editing specialist and the person responsible for the broadcast. 3 people counted the votes, several more people prepared the images, selected the music wallpapers and created the design.

The representatives of our country, the group “The Roop”, which won the Russian “Eurovision” elections, also reacted to the good news. In a personal account of a social network, they shared a photo and thank you.

“Wow, thanks Russia! We are so glad we won the Russian online version of Eurovision!” Wrote The Roop.

The news portal tv3.lt recalls that this is not the first such victory for Lithuania. A few weeks ago, on the occasion of the cancellation of this year’s Eurovision Song Contest, ESCToday decided to impress the frustrated Eurovision community with a live competition among 41 of this year’s selected song recordings.

Based on the Eurovision format, which consists of two semifinals and a grand final, a total of 26 countries participated in the final today and fought for the esctoday.com trophies. Today’s verdict was announced by none other than the people who voted for their favorite song at home and during quarantine, just as they would have in May.

From the first minutes of the vote, it was clear that Lithuania would win the final tonight, as their advantage was clear and significant. Lithuania won this competition at home with a total of 10,800 votes.

However, shortly after this year’s Eurovision cancellation, Lithuania announced The Roop’s fate in next year’s competition.

The LRT working group decided that next year the group “The Roop” will immediately be guaranteed a place in the national team final, as well as all funds raised during this year’s vote will be released to members. It is true that the band On Fire will not be able to perform the same song “On Fire” next year.
