According to the presidency, the meeting discussed the financial situation of small entrepreneurs and businesses currently restricted by quarantine, as well as their willingness to operate safely when the decision is made to gradually relax the quarantine rules.
“The stricter quarantine has improved the epidemiological situation in the country. However, the second wave of the pandemic has hit small and medium-sized companies hard, especially those companies or freelancers who trade non-essential goods or provide contact services. As the pandemic situation changes, we must seek a safe new balance between epidemiological and socio-economic goals, ”said G. Nausėda.
The head of state emphasized that companies must responsibly strengthen and adhere to safe operation standards before society obtains collective immunity, because it depends on its own ability to operate with greater freedom.
The meeting also discussed the importance of social dialogue, the speed of assistance to small and medium-sized enterprises and the possible application of different quarantine restrictions on a territorial basis.
It is announced that on Monday, during the meeting with the Prime Minister, the President will discuss, among other things, the government’s plans for the relaxation stages of the quarantine.
Delphi recalls that, following Monday’s meeting of the Government Emergency Commission (WESC), it was decided to allow the resumption of ski resorts and promised that decisions on beauty salons and shops with access from abroad would be made “in the next days”. But on Wednesday, the government decided not to consider the issue of business liberalization. This issue is said to be addressed next week. This sparked outrage among business representatives. D. Matukienė, president of the Council of Small and Medium Enterprises, said on Thursday that some companies are preparing to go to court.
