“We understand that people will not attack to buy, there will be people who are afraid and avoid, others will not hide, they will switch to online commerce, to electronic commerce, they will fall a little, but we wait. We will not open to full capacity, not all the people who are now inactive will work, but we will try to drive again, ”says Ramutė Leščinskienė, representative of the bookstore.
The businessman Arūnas, who has a chancery shop in Marijampolė, is also happy.
“We are going to open it, we are fully prepared for it. Ready to go. We are waiting for the townspeople and schoolchildren in our store. The main customers of our visitors who visited our store are,” says businessman Arūnas Reinikis.

The government allows non-food stores to operate that meet 2 basic requirements. It has a walkway separated from the field and a total commercial area of no more than 300 square meters. The government does not want people to crowd. As a result, the larger stores are in no rush to open.

“For all who will have the opportunity to return to activity, we offer a free COVID-19 test. And starting tomorrow they can register for a voluntary test at 1808.lt or simply call 1808,” says the Minister of Cheers Arūnas Dulkys.

The Cabinet of Ministers approved not only the opening of some stores and services, but also the entire quarantine release plan. The government will measure each rule based on the proportion of positive COVID-19 tests and the number of new 14-day cases per 100,000 residents. The rate is currently 313, an average of about 626 new infections per day.

The next phase of quarantine mitigation would only begin when the 14-day morbidity fell to 200 new cases per 100,000 population. The kindergartens, which are currently not open to all children, would reopen at full speed. Primary classes would also reopen.

Health experts advising the government are in favor of easing the quarantine.
“As for small shops, this is real, that is, a person usually comes, can control the process, take security measures, they can really be opened,” says Mindaugas Stankūnas, member of the Council of Health Experts.
However, not all measures chosen by the authorities are treated the same.
“Maybe those beauty services could have opened at least a week later, a higher risk area. Scientific studies say that this is a higher risk, ”says M. Stankūnas.
Health experts note that the liberalization of quarantine regimes in foreign countries has often forced countries to revert to the toughest restrictions. Lithuania’s current quarantine release plan is strict and restrictions are expected to be fully lifted only when the incidence is 13 times lower than now.
