“This mass vaccination process is a precedent in the life of many countries. Its success can only be guaranteed by the efficient, fluid and professional functioning of the public and private sectors. By understanding the gravity and importance of the situation, we can say with trust: the business is open and ready to share skills, knowledge, experiences and people to get out of our daily pandemic situation as soon as possible ”, said Andrius Romanovskis, president of LVK.

According to him, not only the medical community but also the business community were especially waiting for the COVID-19 vaccine. Therefore, it will now be vital to ensure a successful vaccination process.

At the beginning of this year, the most vulnerable medical groups will be vaccinated in the first phase of vaccination. Later, the vaccine will reach the majority of the country’s population. More than 2 million people are expected to be vaccinated in Lithuania.

“Any logistics will confirm that performing 2 million operations in such a short time is a special challenge. However, we constantly face such challenges: managing large flows of people, ensuring continuous recurring processes, is the daily routine of our work. We are ready to help and contribute, to share our experience and knowledge, ”said Arūnas Bertašius, vice president of LVK and director of the logistics company Rhenus Logistics.

According to LVK, private medical institutions are already actively involved in the management of the COVID-19 pandemic: they provide the necessary medical services, assign medical personnel to units formed in hospitals, fever clinics or mobile points. Coronovirus tests are being carried out by private laboratories, and the contribution of private GPs to the universal vaccination of the population will obviously also be particularly important.

“Private health facilities can already provide additional resources free of charge for universal vaccination of the population against coronavirus. Our member, a network of private diagnostic laboratories, can deliver vaccines to 300 vaccination sites in Lithuania at its own expense. Many members of the association have equipped vaccination facilities and certified specialists, so they are ready to vaccinate Lithuanian doctors and the entire population with vaccines purchased by the state for free, ”said Laimutis Paškevičius, LVK Council member and president of the Lithuanian Association of Private Health Institutions.

“We are ready, willing and able to help and contribute to an effective and professional fight against the pandemic,” he added.

The first BioNTech and Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine was announced in Lithuania on Saturday. A total of 9,750 doses of the vaccine have been delivered to Lithuania and will be used for medical vaccination. Vaccination will start on Sunday in Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipeda, Siauliai and Panevezys hospitals

LVK is the largest business organization linking services, commerce and high-tech companies in Lithuania. Together with representatives of trade unions and non-governmental organizations, the LVK is invited to participate in the activities of the Advisory Council of Independent Experts on COVID-19, formed by Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė.
