Half a year ago a company bought a one-hectare plot on the banks of the Neris. Here a block of flats is being prepared. However, the problem is that there is a four-storey residential house on the plot, where a family has lived for more than 20 years. In other words, the entrepreneurs bought all the land, but the house here belongs to the residents, LNK reports.
When the businessmen began to manage their plot, a conflict with the ancients began.
“It just came to our knowledge then. It is in the center of this entire acre. It hinders the construction. He wants this plot not to remain and the buildings to be demolished; more houses can be built,” said Vilma Volungevičienė, a resident.
“Both actions and threats have started,” Mindaugas Gailiūnas residents complained.
Residents think they want to be evicted. “She suggested moving. They didn’t even make any commitments,” they said.
The owner of the plot said that neither the neighbors nor the house interfere with the plans.
“From the first moment we bought this plot, I said that they didn’t bother us at all. Neither the building bothers us, nor the fact that they lived in that building illegally. It’s basically hampered by the way they use our plot. They use the plot in a disorderly way, ”said Evaldas Greičius, the owner of the plot.
Residents believe that a businessman is scraping them especially because a large slope has appeared near the house.

“To destroy the entire easement plot, prevent access to the buildings, maintain them, prevent access to the buildings and simply seize the property in this way,” the neighbor is convinced.
And the businessman said that the slope was excavated because a lot of debris was found during the work on the ground.
“There is a lot of garbage in this soil. We decided that it would be better to invest some money to clear this land and then form a new slope,” explained Evaldas Greičius.
Residents said they received threats.
Forced by mountains of garbage, access to the river is no longer possible. A person who does not know that it is a bay would not even realize that we are in the bay.
“Information has been received from the Prosecutor’s Office on possible criminal acts: death threats or serious disturbances of human health, extortion and self-government,” said the representative of the Kaunas police, Gintarė Žulytė.
The businessman said that he had not threatened anyone and never had such intentions. This was also the case with the investigators who decided to close the investigation due to threats.
However, residents do not give up, they explained that landowners are destroying nature. The ancients said that the trees were drastically cut down here, leaving only the roots. Environmentalists after inspecting the plot found violations.
“The pines were filled with sludge, a mandatory order was given to remove the sludge. It was fulfilled. Another infraction that has been registered is the inadequate handling of green waste. They were hanging on the side of the bay. They are currently eliminated. There is an administrative responsibility for this, ”said Orinta Vaitkutė, senior environmental specialist.

Residents also believe that not only the trees, but also the Neris Bay are being destroyed.

And the businessman says the opposite: the bay is simply being managed.
“We had agreed with the municipality that we would even make an easement for the public to come to this bay. We arranged everything very well, we planted it beautifully and we really decorated it, ”he said.
The environmental investigation is ongoing and a building permit has yet to be issued.
