Egypt has a record number of coronavirus infection cases per day

Compared to the previous day, the number of people diagnosed with COVID-19 in this African country has increased by a third.

“The total number of infections reached 13,484 and the number of deaths from COVID-19 increased from 14 to 659 in the last day,” the ministry said in a statement.

Egyptian Prime Minister Mustafa Madbuli announced stricter quarantine measures last Sunday. The head of government announced that from May 24 to 29, public transport, shopping and entertainment centers, promenades, beaches, parks and restaurants will be closed.

In addition, the Egyptian government ordered the mandatory use of face masks in public places starting May 30. According to the Prime Minister, quarantine conditions can be relaxed no earlier than mid-June.
