On some Easter weekends, the opening hours of stores will be shorter, and on a public holiday Sunday, retail chains will announce that they will not open their doors in all of Lithuania.
On the first day of Easter, it won’t work.
The retail chain Iki announces that the first day of Easter, Sunday, will be closed and the stores of the network will be open as usual the following days of the holiday weekend.
“We want all our colleagues to relax, have a quiet stay with their families and experience the bright spring,” says Vaida Budrienė, spokesperson for the sales network.
The first day of Easter is announced by the retail chain Lidl that it does not work.
“We have a tradition that our stores are closed during the big holidays of the year, so this year, not all the stores in the chain will be open on the first day of Easter. This decision has been made for the fourth year in a row so that all employees can spend their holidays with their families, ”says network representative Lina Skersytė.
L. Skersytė adds that employees will return to work on the second day of Easter and all chain stores will work during normal business hours.
Darius Ryliškis, a representative of the Norfa retail chain, also calls Easter Sunday a traditional holiday.
“It has been a tradition for a long time that the network does not work during the big parties. Also this Easter, the shops will be closed. The day before and the day after Easter, the shops will be shorter: Saturday until 8:00 pm and Monday from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm ”, adds D. Ryliškis.
Has extended work hours since March
The Maxima stores will also be closed during Easter this year.
“Like most of Lithuania, we will rest and spend time with our families as much as the quarantine conditions allow. We invite customers to take this into account and plan for Christmas shopping as soon as possible so that we can all prepare for Easter comfortably and safely, ”says Jolanta Bivainytė, general manager of the Maxima retail chain.
However, according to J. Bivainytė, already on Monday, the second day of Easter, the shops will operate as usual.
The general director of the retail chain also points out that since March 8, most of the stores where the working day has been reduced have returned to the normal rhythm of the working day.
“Working hours are adjusted according to buyers’ needs so that people can leisurely shop in the late hours when buyer flows are slowing.
(…) We closely monitor the situation on a daily basis and, if necessary, change the opening hours of individual stores ”, adds Ernesta Dapkienė, director of the Department of Communication and Image of the retail chain, to J. Bivainytė.
E. Dapkienė adds that the stores that operate in Vilnius and Kaunas 24 hours before the quarantine will not be renewed at night, but will be open until midnight.
Opening hours in March are also adjusted by the Rimi chain of stores. According to Irina Miklienė, the chain’s head of supermarket management, most stores, which have worked less during the quarantine so far, will go back to work normal business hours and meet customers during traditional business hours.
“During the pandemic, we repeatedly changed store opening hours, taking into account the distribution of customer flows. The reduction in working hours in some stores made it possible to reschedule working hours, ensuring the necessary rest for employees ”, says I. Miklienė.
However, according to I. Miklienė, 21 Rimi shopping centers will continue to work several hours less for the time being.
“Among them, several stores in Vilnius, Kaunas, one each, in the district of Klaipėda, Šiauliai, Panevėžys, as well as in Alytus, Kaišiadorys, Utena, Ukmergė, Telšiai, Jonava, Biržai. Due to extended quarantine it remains closed Fast format stores in Vilnius, Konstitucijos Avenue and Druskininkai ”, – details I. Miklienė.
According to Renata Keršienė, public relations representative of the retail chain, during the spring weekend, the stores will not be open on the first day of Easter, like other retail chains, and will be open during normal working hours in March in the second day of Easter.
