“My experience has shown that it is really not difficult to start a business in Lithuania. Probably the most difficult thing was having psychological determination, overcoming fear, crossing the inner barrier, convincing myself that I really can do it. Especially since I’ve been thinking about my company for a long time, I was afraid to take the first step: obsessive thoughts, unanswered questions: where will I get clients or find workers and what will happen if I make mistakes? Where will I get all the tools I need? Will it be worth the investment? I was very afraid of making a mistake, of doing something wrong. Therefore, in the long run, I discovered the concept of my activity: coordinating every step, even the smallest, with the client, asking everything. I didn’t really experience any major setbacks in the business, customers walked with ease, or maybe I didn’t see any problems because I had dreamed about it for many years, I just worked, and when I needed to, even walked through walls. It was only after putting a lot of effort, energy and time into the investment, carefully looking after quality and reputation, that I took the first step. I founded the Small Community “Trinkelitas”. It was the best event of the year at the time. Maybe he wouldn’t be committed to that until now. Fortunately, I have a beautiful family, I am very happy that at that time the wife was very supportive and motivated, and the clients were mentioned repeatedly, they said: “You have so much head, finally it begins to work for you.” I took a step into the business world with fear and anxiety, but two months later I was already happy to have done it ”, shared E. Edwin did not address the corporate world right away. He had already gained a lot of work experience. The first seven years, he himself began to work as a simple auxiliary worker, then he became a foreman, and now for the second year – as a manager of his established activities.

“I believe that whoever works well in this job, I constantly communicate with clients, I coordinate every step of my life. I try to make the client who requested my services happier, get more services than agreed. Perhaps that is why they are not lacking. I am a sedentary person, I try to improve in one area, I do not change my profession or job. “If you know how to make something work well, I think you don’t want to look for something new, experiment,” Edvin opened.

MB Trinkelitas has paving orders for next year. So far, only a four-person brigade works. He would also like to form more brigades so that customers don’t have to wait so long, but at the moment it is very difficult to find captains.

“Young people who leave the computer often do not appreciate their opportunities. As soon as you feel physically working hard on the pads, the second day you do not show up at work, you disappear and the older people no longer” exert “a lot of physical effort.

Imagine if you needed to transport 20 tons a day. Fortunately, the business is gradually expanding, I am receiving a large number of orders, all the efforts have been worth it. Of course, the burden of responsibility has also increased ”, opened the interlocutor.

Edwin still remembers his most impressive first object. This was the Marijampolė car market, where 50 thousand people had to queue. square meter pads. You can’t forget the feeling of standing in the square – you didn’t see the other end and everything had to be grounded. But it was an invaluable experience.

“I got into the construction business just before the first economic crisis. At that time, people had easy access to credit, so there was a construction boom in our country. I studied rural tourism management at a vocational school, but I sought financial freedom. I got a job as a construction assistant when I was still very young on the rigs. To this day, I remember when I received my first salary: 4400 and then another litas. I just finished my studies. I found myself at a crossroads in my life: I was considering whether to continue my studies and get a diploma, or to go to work and secure financial freedom. Money turned my head, I plunged head straight into construction, paving, outdoor welfare work. Unfortunately, the financial success was temporary, it didn’t last long. Maybe three years have passed and the economy is collapsing. I did not receive 1000 litas for my work, but only 1000. On the other hand, I learned to work well. I learned the trade not from theory, but from the workplace, ”Edwin said of his first steps in the construction business.

Works fine, no need to search for clients

According to the entrepreneur, when you work well, there is no need to search for clients. They find the teacher themselves. After performing the service to one, if it is of high quality, he recommends his brother, a friend, passes the contacts to a neighbor. It has happened that a satisfied customer of Edwin and his services was recommended by up to 10 of his friends.

“I have colleagues, acquaintances who are also engaged in the same activities, but who are currently out of work. Even perennial teachers, who sometimes fall asleep on their laurels, imagine that they know everything. Unfortunately this is not the case, you have to study every day. Materials, tools, and technologies change over time. I am constantly interested in innovations, I go to professional seminars, the “Concrete Mosaic” training brings a lot of knowledge. Constantly updated knowledge, very receptive to the quality of work. Therefore, my work may be a bit more expensive, but after waiting and without trying to save a euro or a few, the client pays himself. The fundamental mistake of customers is that they call and ask how long it has been, but not how. I am often faced with a situation where people kick out cheaper workers and ask me to fix a defect. But one must understand that correcting mistakes is much more expensive than getting it right with technology right away. Recycling is expensive and complicated, you have to collect everything and compare the base again. After all, it is easier to build a new house than to renovate it after removing the old boards. It often turns out that the foundation is laid, the walls are broken. In my work, I ask the client for all the details, I try to do everything according to their wishes and needs, sometimes I advise myself. I have even padded an expert in my profession. Those around him said that he supposedly would have forks with him, several brigades escaped from him, allegedly, he was an unpleasant customer, he walks with a ruler and measures everything in millimeters. For me, it was one of the best, although I was concerned before starting work on this object, but the client did not say a word to us, had no complaints. We broke up with a smile. If you work well, there will always be work ”, the teacher opened.

The most pleasant thing is communication

According to Edwin, the most enjoyable thing for him is communicating with various people and clients. Some returning from abroad manage the shipyards, others are Lithuanian businessmen. He also likes the creative process: people choose blocks of one color, others require a combination of several colors. Sometimes they choose a round pavement or a rectangle. This is not just a mechanical job. You need to plan, think, create. But the biggest problem in this area, according to Edwin, is timing.

“I want to have jobs, so I corresponded with several clients in a row. I promise to come for a month, but it doesn’t always work out. In the construction business, it never turns out the way you want it to. On some objects the works take a long time, on some In places the equipment breaks down or the necessary blocks are not obtained, the rubble is not delivered, all this delays the works. Therefore, the last client on the list does not always receive the service. Waking up to wait, he finds another teacher. All this would be solved if I had more brigades, unfortunately with people, quality workforce – problems. There are assistants, but it is difficult to find a teacher. Right now I am happy, I am doing my favorite job: I am paving, fixing the courtyards of the farms in Kretinga and Palanga, in the neighboring cities. I want all my like-minded people to take risks, to believe in their own strengths.
