Edita’s realistic works make us cry: “Sometimes you can create animals that look very real” | Lifetime

We asked Edita, where did it all start? “I first saw a pet dragged on the Internet and I really liked it. I decided to give it a try. If you want to learn in vain, you can discover a lot of information and video material, that’s how I learned ”, recalls the interlocutor.

Edita says that she is currently interacting with like-minded people in a group where everyone can share their experiences or get advice. “When we talk to women around the world, they are often engaged in some kind of artistic activity, until they started giving away realistic ornaments that mimic animals. I used to mold a lot of play dough all my childhood, and now it helps me, because it is a sculptural work: I have to make cat and dog noses with a model, and it also requires diligence “I cannot sit empty-handed; as soon as I have time, my hands go directly to work and create. “

– How did you manage to create the first works?

– Looking at the works of other masters on the Internet, I thought that if they could, I could too. In fact, this type of item is very popular in Russia, in America. Radau Youtube a video of an American and created several bunnies for Easter. At the time, I didn’t even know what type of wool to buy, and it wasn’t until later that I discovered that there are different types of wool and needles for them. It became interesting and so creativity gradually took off. Which year I initially gave everyone pet pins or just dragged pets. Someone asking for my job and wanting to buy it, I wouldn’t have even thought about it!

It is true that those animal heads seemed unusual to me, I wanted to drag the whole animal. But after a while the eyes got used to it. Now they can be fastened as clasps, framed or framed, and now it is very popular to attach these clasps to the car.

– Does it take a long time to create a brooch?

– It takes about a couple of days because it is painstaking work. And the more you want, the more enhancements and other brooches are born faster. It takes a long time to develop the skills to be able to make accurate proportions; drawing helps too. If you can’t draw, it may be more difficult.

– How did your felts become popular and famous?

– It all started when I made many bunnies and offered them to a woman who participated in an exhibition with vain products: show them, show them to customers. It was Easter, so they immediately snatched them away, they were more decorations for children.

Then I worked harder and harder, and after a while I had the idea of making realistic looking animal brooches. I saw that people were interested in wanting those brooches, so I also created an Instagram page. After a while, I started making brooches based on photos of their animals sent by people. Some of them want to create a memory of a deceased animal, others want to perpetuate the current pet.

Others frame pets. I recently sent a client to England a work that was so similar to his outgoing pet that he wrote to me that he even cried when he saw it. In fact, sometimes very similar and realistic looking animals can even be created. However, it always seems to me that I could have done even better, I’m very excited (laughs). So I think there is still room for improvement and I put a lot of effort into it. It also takes a few days to create a job, so its cost cannot be low. In other countries, the price of such products starts between 40 and 50 euros.

– You say there are no materials for this kind of work in Lithuania. What is missing in our country?

– I usually ship almost everything, even the lack of wool, for example, it is impossible to find snow-white wool. I buy felting needles from England and Germany. Glass perforations, model, back button and other materials – I cannot find suitable materials in Lithuania, there are simply no options like in other countries.

Well, the works that I have created also travel all over the world: America (Florida), England, Ireland, Germany, Malta.

– What compliments do you get for your work?

– I always ask you to write to me when you receive the felts. Usually people are surprised and say that they actually look many times more beautiful. In fact, the items are “non-photogenic” and do not show the true beauty in the photo. The camera distorts them, which makes the living animals look much more impressive.

– What are your dreams in the creative field?

– I have many dreams and thoughts, only a million (laughs). I would very much like to dedicate sculptural statuettes in the future – cats, puppies, which would be suitable for the workplace and decorate it. Clearly the price then goes up, so I don’t know how customers would agree. Brooches are available to everyone and are currently on the wave.
