Vacationers have cabins favorites

Very close to the Šventoji monkey bridge, we visit the blue block of flats “Mano Mallorca”. Dalia, the owner of the cabins, is soon.

“In April-May, the price per person is 10 euros per day. It was € 15 a day on the weekends of May. Now, in June, a person has 15 euros a day, on the weekend, 20 euros. Until June 15. The prices are lower. If two people live in the house, they pay 30 euros “, – Dalia presents the prices of tv3.lt.

Later, starting in mid-June, house prices go up. The price of a four-bed cabin reaches 60 euros, no matter how many people live in it. If tourists want to rent a cottage for the entire weekend from Friday to Sunday, a supplement of EUR 20 is requested.

“The weekend is the most popular, just as there is seasonality throughout the world, on the most popular days prices are always rising, let’s take any country in the world,” explains Dalia.

The owner of the cabins emphasizes that all cabins have all the comforts: toilet and bathroom. There are also kitchens, terraces and Wi-Fi in the area. On arrival, vacationers can park their cars next to the cottage.

Now Dalia says she does not notice the influx of tourists, although a large number of Lithuanian tourists plan to stay in Lithuania due to the pandemic.

“Our cabins are new, tidy, we are well known and I don’t think we will go because we have nowhere to go. Maybe I’ll brag, but they come to us because it’s really good: a strategically good place, neat and clean houses. This year, only so much that the season has started earlier ”, says Dalia.

Dalia cautions that most visitors come to the same cabins where they have already vacationed. The most popular cabin has its own balcony and upholstered furniture, a separate kitchen, and reservations for this cabin are said to start in December.

Dalia was allowed a look at another of the more popular cabins.

“It is more spacious, the last one we built. When you do the work, you start to think about how comfortable and better it is to do everything. It came out the most comfortable, the most spacious and people like it a lot ”, smiles Dalia.

The woman adds that she always makes discounts for families with three or more children. For a family of five, a five-bed cabin is available for the price of one of four. The woman says she is raising three children with her husband, so she wants to encourage larger families to vacation.

Without fear of competition

We visit the block of cabins that is located right next to the port of Sventoji. The windows are forged in one place, but the doors of other houses are open. Elder Genovaitė stands in a courtyard. Around the houses there is a number and a sign “Cottages, rooms for rent in Genutė”.

“Double room – 30 euros plus 1 euro for a pillow fee for adults, children do not need. The triple will currently be 50, the quadruple 55-60 euros, there are four beds. There are those prices at the moment, but I know that it is very expensive everywhere this year. After Joniniai, we will see if maybe a couple of euros will be more expensive, everyone is taking the opportunity “, Genovaitė presents the situation as soon as we arrive.

The woman says there are currently orders for July and August, as well as for next weekend. First of all, tourists are robbing cabins with amenities: a toilet and a bathroom. Other cabins do not have them, but the campsite has shared bathrooms, a bathroom, a sink and a small kitchen.

Tourists can also use the barbecue facilities, Genovaitė has four here. The old woman says she is not afraid to compete with other cabin owners.

“We have all renewed, I do not survive. Come and stay, it’s okay. Watch (points to a recently constructed building – aut. past.) new hotels, look how beautiful they are, all the conditions are there, but others want space to bake something, everyone needs a different one ”, says Genovaitė.

The woman was not afraid to show the cabins as well as the common spaces for the vacationers. Here Genovaitė and her husband own seven cabins. Opening the door, the woman notices that no one has lived in the cabins this year, so they have not yet had time to prepare for the season: they clean, wash, prepare to receive guests.

Genute Cabins

Prices peak dozens of times during peak hours

Almost the cheapest cabins are about a hundred meters from Kopų street. As you walk in the direction shown by the hanging signs, you will be greeted by dozens of old cabins. And the prices do not bite here: the confident hostess of the Rasa cabins says she would spend the night here tonight for 7 euros.

“5 euros a night for a week,” smiles Rasa.

When asked if the price is always that low, Rasa says that as demand increases, so does the price. It can go up not even double or triple during a good season, but dozens of times. The hostess of the cabins recalls that during the peak of last year, a cabin was rented for 120 euros.

However, wealth is not recovered from the business.

“My husband works and my son helps us. A man who has completed his master’s degree in veterinary medicine, am I right in telling a boy that he needs to study? ”Rasa says.

The woman admits that the cabins need investment and repairs, but the woman says she rents the area with the cabins from the state. The rent is high and you can only earn your salary and your husband’s.

Also, after the winter there was a lot of ripping. Rasa says that in the winter the cabins were covered with a thick layer of snow that broke parts of the roof.

“The old parcel, many old trees, needs to be managed, but the projects to manage the port area are ready,” says Rasa, adding that the land on which the cabins are located belongs to the territory of the Šventoji port. The complex is said to have been founded here in 1969.

“Plans for the next three months, we learn that we can work and work,” says Rasa.

Part of the cabins decided to move

The portal tv3.lt recalls that the municipality of Palanga announced last year that part of the legendary houses of Šventoji are located in the state territories. According to the mayor of the city of Palanga, Šarūnas Vaitkus, several hundred cabins in Šventoji were still from Soviet times, so it was decided to demolish the cabins and thus free up the coast for vacationers and pay compensation to the owners of the cabins. cabins.

In March 2020, it was announced that 260 cabins were planned to be taken in Šventoji to meet the needs of the public. When land occupied by buildings is used for public needs, buildings owned by individuals must be remunerated at market value. The market values of legally registered holiday homes range from € 4,030 to € 12,200. To do this, allocate 2 million. euros.

“The idea is that in the coastal area, in Šventoji, Palanga and Klaipėda, many huts were built, which were temporary, intended for temporary rest in Soviet times. Most of those cabins, about 90 percent, do not have legal registration. As the coastline is quite narrow and Lithuania does not have much coastline anyway, a solution is offered to the Government that in the coastal area, about a hundred meters from the sea, both in the forest and in the coastal area, houses will be erected and residents will be compensated ”, said at the time TV3.lt, Deputy Minister of the Environment, Marius Narmontas.

The situation of country houses in state territories was compared with the situation of metal garages.

“The situation is similar to the garage communities that we have in cities and elsewhere. These are temporary buildings, they were intended for temporary use, but over the years everything happened there. Of course, there are various situations, such as some cabins registered by court decisions, someone is repaired, etc. As the number of cabins is quite large, it would probably not be possible to evaluate and decide on the basis of a single shoe, but the goal is to free the coastal strip of temporary structures in a few years ”, commented M. Narmontas. hour.

The then deputy minister said that without the cabins, tourists would still have a variety of opportunities to stay in Šventoji, but the cabins shouldn’t be on the seashore, like a garage on the Gediminas hill.

Petras Kaminskas, head of the Legal and Personnel Division of the Municipal Administration of the City of Palanga, points out to the portal tv3.lt that the opinion of the municipality on the issue of the cabins remains the same.

“The position of the Municipality of the City of Palanga is that the aforementioned huts, which have no legal registration, should have been removed from state lands a long time ago. There is also a case law according to which unregistered buildings should not be addressed and should be postponed, ”says P. Kaminskas in a comment broadcast by tv3.lt.
