At the end of November last year, the then Minister of Health, Aurelijus Veryga, announced that S. Čaplinskas had been fired for non-performance of his duties and “for various infractions”.

S. Čaplinskas was unable to work at the time, but A. Veryga stated at the time that the first day of his work after incapacity for work would be the last day under the direction of ULAC. A. Dulkys has said that there is no reason to change the decision of this predecessor.

Medikas S. Čaplinskas has been running ULAC since 1989, when the institution was still called the Lithuanian AIDS Center.

Meanwhile, the current minister has urged Petraitis to resign from the NVSC, but he has resigned, saying criticism of the center’s activities is unfounded.
