Dustys – on the mood after the meeting with the president: we agreed one thing with Šimonyte

According to A. Dulkis, he sees the importance of preparatory work regardless of the president’s decision.

“Invited with so much civic inspiration, I contributed to the team at this stage, but I believe that all that work must be done: both in the plan against the pandemic, in the direction of the Government’s program and in many other things that are important now.”

When asked how he values ​​his candidacy in the public sphere as he did not receive the approval of the head of state, he replied that he did not know exactly what to answer.

“You know, when you wake up in the morning and something hurts, you are still a living person. When people are successful or active, it is natural to have all kinds of insights. Apparently the most important message, if you are still talking, you follow alive, ”said A. Dulkys half-jokingly.

The candidate for health minister says he had not heard allegations of competence or insufficient experience in handling the crisis during meetings with the advisers or with G. Nausėda. According to him, these issues have not been touched, but may be on the margins. When asked what support he expected from Ingrida Šimonytė, if the president was running for office, A. Dulkys mentioned that they had had to speak to the prime minister on various aspects.

“On the one hand, we have agreed that what the state needs now is for the prime minister and the president to have a unanimous consensus on the person in this place. The situation is one of crisis and you know, I am starting to say such a paraphrase saying more and more often that the virus is already preparing for the third trip through Lithuania and will have surrounded it perhaps for the third time, and we will only measure our shoes with our plans “.

When asked to comment on whether he himself disliked or disliked the president, the candidate said he would not like to link these issues and he himself tries not to let such thoughts in.

“I really think that then we would be so non-state. If someone finds it very difficult now for the president, prime minister or candidates, I think it is the most difficult for the medical community at the moment. We should think more about them.

Asked if his candidacy could be opposed because he could be an inconvenient minister, A. Dulkys considered that this is always the case not only in politics, but also in the life of organizations.

“Anytime a leader who initiates change or is known as a change leader will never get the support of all employees or the entire community. We are talking about a community whose structure and principles of work have no longer changed in ten, not twenty, and I would even say that it not only remained intact throughout the entire period of Lithuanian independence. They were practically formed during the Soviet era and we are talking about a system that has not seen significant changes in about 50 years. “

In his opinion, where systems are closed, there is always a certain collapse of them sooner or later. He also added that then mediocrity begins in such systems.

However, A. Dulkys admitted that after naming certain medical names, he couldn’t really tell if they belong to a clan. As with any organization, he said, the ignorance and disobedience of managers to personalities is very important.

“It opens up other possibilities for people, because when a leader starts out in white and doesn’t pay attention to such distributions, then perhaps disabled members of the community have a chance to achieve something. They also see the meaning that they can change their role, and then all together can focus on some change. I see many advantages in my ignorance and it would not really affect any emotional environment. I would start with equal treatment and only with objective criteria could I judge everyone “.

When asked if A. Dulkys feels the support of the medical community, he said that after the announcement of his name, he was surprised by the number of medical followers he has on the social network.

“I am sincerely surprised by those different communities. In the last few days, I have not been able to reply to emails, I have not been able to see those messages. I am already approached by both specific people and representatives of some associations with specific topics, with knowledge and I really receive a lot of support.

But look, I look very objectively and understand that each of us lives in a bigger or smaller bubble. It is very likely that there is a very large group of people who may doubt that my skills really fit.

Memorable work of nurses

The ministerial candidate also said that he had to deal with the health system as a patient as well. When he found himself in one of the hospitals, he said, it was very good that no one knew that he was working as a state ombudsman at the time.

“I really liked the work of the nurses who visited us in the ward. I have become convinced of how important their work is and the enormous impact they have on the health of patients. It was not realistic for me. For my part, I also had to listen to certain stories, as I dared to ask when I noticed that a wall in one of our rooms had finished collapsing.

You know, since I also worked with support projects from the European Union, it was very strange to me that it seemed that so much was invested in those buildings, but it is possible that such rooms still exist. So that nurse told me that the last time the repairs were done was 15 years ago, and that a “good” head of her department had to repaint that wall. He also showed me his clothes, which he received from the state 40 years ago. “

Somewhere a day later, he continued, followed by a conversation and heard a commotion in the elevators.

“It just came to our knowledge then. It turns out that all the companies got together, brought their clothes, and the nurses from our state hospital collected and measured work clothes in a market. I was very surprised by this picture, because everything was happening in Lithuania in this century ”.
