According to the Minister of Health Arūnas Dulkys, the priorities are in line with the requests of the Ministry of National Defense and the National Association of Athletes. According to the minister, this was also supported by the Government’s Advisory Council of Experts, which met on Wednesday, stressing that these groups need “not some epidemiological but political decisions.”

“There is a proposal to approve the inclusion in the lists of high-performance athletes, candidates for the national teams of the Republic of Lithuania, who will be represented at the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Tokyo, their coaches and other mandatory personnel of the Olympic Games and Paralympics. And secondly, soldiers from the Republic of Lithuania who are sent to international operations, “said the minister at the government meeting.

According to him, in both cases we are talking about “several hundred people each”.

Currently, vaccination is given as a priority to physicians, high-risk patients, residents and employees of nursing and care institutions, and volunteers. After vaccination, priorities are set for people working in mobile points and fever clinics, pharmacy personnel, etc. Following these specific groups, all people over 65 years of age, starting with the oldest, would be vaccinated as a priority.
