The Minister recalled that he had previously negatively assessed the annual service activities of NVSC Director R. Petraitis.

“As it was already in mid-February (reported – aut.p.), I carried out an annual evaluation of the official activity of R. Petraitis. I rated that activity unsatisfactory. The chief, as allowed by the legislation, took the opportunity and addressed the corresponding commission ”, recalled A. Dulkys on Tuesday after the government meeting.

According to him, yesterday at the end of the working day he received the conclusions of said commission.

“They confirm my vision and my assessment, so today I will sign an order to fire Mr. Petraitis from March 10. Inclusive. Until we solve the problem of the permanent manager, Giedrė Aleksienė will be the manager; she is currently the head of the Communicable Diseases Management Division of this center, ”said the Minister of Health.

Delphi recalls that a verification of NVSC data revealed 804 missing coronavirus deaths at the end of December last year.

Subsequently, the Minister of Health A. Dulkys asked R. Petraitis to answer the questions related to the aforementioned problem and the organization of the institution’s activities.

After receiving them, A. Dulkys met with R. Petraitis in early January and informed the public that he had asked the director of the NVSC to resign from his current position. However, Petraitis refused to resign and qualified the policy minister’s decision.

The Ministry of Health, after assessing the situation, carried out an inspection on the possible violation of R. Petraitis’ official duties and reprimanded him.

A comment sent to Elta last week indicated that R. Petraitis intends to appeal the decision to impose a penalty for service in court.
