“The latest news is that we have received information that after January 4, we hope it becomes clear, another shipment of vaccines will arrive in Lithuania. This means that in the first week of January we will be able to continue with the vaccination process and take the second shipment to the coordination centers, ”said the Minister at the press conference.

Decisions only after the Magi

Latvia has decided to introduce a curfew for the New Year. At a press conference held after the government meeting, A. Dulkys joked that his subconscious did not even want to hear such a word, he forgot the question the journalist asked him.

The minister explained that after the New Year a more accurate assessment of the situation will be made. It will then be considered whether the measures currently in force are working properly.

“We really want to wait at least until the Three Kings, when the statistics start to speak of the impact we have from the current measures,” he explained.

He promised decisions only in early January.

“We want to see professionally if there will be any positive impact of the measures we have recently adopted. For this reason, we believe that we will decide in detail, analyze and evaluate the changes as of January 1, and more precisely – from the Three Kings,” said the Minister..

Two basic knowledge

The government decided today to commission the Department of Statistics to carry out the statistical survey COVID-19 starting next year.

“I have two key messages today. One relates to the fact that the government commissioned the Statistics Department today to carry out a statistical survey. This means that from now on, Statistics Lithuania will not only receive data on new cases, the number of tests performed and the like, but you will also receive detailed information on people’s age, workplace and health data, ”said the Minister.

A. Dulkys stated that by knowing more precise information, it will be possible to apply more precise quarantine measures.

The minister recalled that on Tuesday he had met with the head of the National Center for Public Health (NVSC), with whom he also spoke about the “lost” statistics of deaths registered in the country, and was critical of the center’s activities.

“I was not convinced by the responses, so I asked the head of the NVSC to provide a detailed assessment of the situation regarding unaccounted deaths. (…) Upon receiving the written explanations, I will take the appropriate measures ”, said the Minister.
