“I personally see big problems. Today I proposed to the esteemed R. Petraitis, because in my opinion the best option for him would be to resign from his current position. They asked me to give time to think, so we agreed that I would wait for an answer until the Monday morning, ”Health Minister A. Dulkys said after the meeting on Friday.

The Minister said that this decision was very well thought out.

“The whole history of the organization, especially during the crisis, is filled with a wide variety of stories and internal situations. But I think we have reached a situation at this point where we just have to cross the Gordian knot.

It is the responsibility of leaders and managers in such situations to evaluate it, not to look at it dead in its tracks legally. Because we don’t have time, there is a crisis, we need organizations that function well, ”the minister explained to the media the reasons for his decision.

A. Dulkys assured that he does not deny R. Petraitis’ long experience as a manager and professional in other fields.

“I think the current leader could find another role,” he said on Friday.

He complained about criticism from politicians.

The head of NVSC, R. Petraitis, said in a press conference on Tuesday that due to the political criticism of the center, specialists and volunteers cannot perform their functions properly, because people do not want to communicate with them and provide them with the necessary information. .

As Petraitis said, he explained that people were hostile to the NVSC.

“First, I would like to inform you that NVSC specialists are currently facing a particularly hostile public reaction, which arose after a negative evaluation by politicians. (…) The NVSC staff, the volunteers who help them, call the people who have contracted the coronavirus and have a very hostile reaction when interviewing them, ”said R. Petraitis.

He said that people do not even want to provide professionals with the necessary information, they receive hostility.

“If people do not follow the NVSC’s instructions, do not answer their questions, there will be a very serious threat to the handling of the pandemic,” he said.

Skvernel: there were many failures

There have been many shortcomings in the NVSC’s work, says former Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis, but emphasizes that ordinary employees do important work and are worthy of respect.

“Yes, there were a lot of those shortcomings, and in the spring we wanted a completely different level of performance. And the additional funding was provided when someone finally started asking questions and showing that the information systems measures are serious, ”S. Skvernelis told News Radio on Friday.

“Let’s separate the institution and the manager, the manager will be evaluated and evaluated by the direct manager, that is, the Minister of Health,” he added.

The former prime minister stressed that the ordinary staff of this institution are doing hard and important work and are worthy of respect.

“I would not like to speak of this institution in negative terms, because the institution is not just a manager, there are many employees who work in real and difficult conditions,” he said.
