The minister spoke about this on Monday on the “Informative Comments with Arnas Mazėčius” program.
Following the meeting of the Government Emergency Situations Commission (WESC) on Monday, Interior Minister Agnė Bilotaitė stated that until the situation is clear, release from quarantine conditions is not envisaged.
“For the moment, it will probably be how the Minister of the Interior presented it. (…) Even in half the countries of the European Union (EU), the morbidity figures have started to rise again,” said A. Dulkys.
The minister explained that it is necessary to increase the scope of the tests.
“What do we need to do? This will generally increase the scope of testing. When Lithuania was the leader in Europe, in the world by those numbers, there were so many people experiencing symptoms that labs were full of purely symptomatic tests. Now those tests are they have halved, “said the minister.
He affirmed that the opportunity given to municipalities to increase the scope of preventive tests was not taken.
“It just came to our knowledge then. First, let’s be glad we don’t have so many symptomatic tests that automatically fill our testing capacities. Second, so that that tool, the autonomy that was given to municipalities, has not yet worked.
Let’s say you may not have logged in yet. Now the government itself has taken the initiative and we have brought together various groups: social service workers, teachers, lecturers, pharmacy workers, and we have opened opportunities for cultural workers to try, ”said A. Dulkys.
The minister said that the feelings of the coronavirus disease were much worse than the test.
When asked if the quarantine is planned to continue in April to prepare for Easter, he said that no changes to government decisions are currently being considered. The quarantine was extended until March 31.
“There has already been an increase in that mobility movement, more than a week later, when the first jobs started. “Currently it is not considering changing anything that the government has decided,” he explained.
Last week, the Cabinet of Ministers decided to extend restrictions on movement between municipalities until March 15. After her, as Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė said, they should not extend to such an extent.
A. Dulkys explained in the “Informative Comments with Arnas Mazėčius” program that it is now necessary to monitor how the situation will stabilize.
“The law cannot extend the quarantine for more than a month, the decisions will be made by the Government. The government has already made its decisions, let’s see how we achieve it, let’s focus on the goal so that those numbers do not begin to deteriorate significantly,” said the Minister A. Dulkys.
He argued that the totality of the current indicators prevents thinking of additional releases from quarantine conditions.
“But on the other hand, let’s not lose sight of the fact that Lithuania already came out of the crisis in mid-December, we just haven’t finished letting it go. And sometimes it is more difficult to go down the hill ”, explained the Minister of Health.
“It just came to our attention then. We need to have a certain toolbox,” said the Minister about the investigation and the incoming vaccination process.
A. Dulkys explained that if most people over 70 can get at least the first dose in March, it will allow us to talk about freer quarantine measures for April.
“It will also give us the opportunity to speak differently about the tools we should use for April,” Dulkys said.
