“It just came to our notice then. … The last few months will again become clear from the news, when we will know what quantities of vaccines will be delivered to Lithuania in March,” the minister told LRT radio on Tuesday.
He expected more vaccinations to be recorded during this time as well, which would further expand vaccination opportunities.
On Tuesday, the minister and experts are preparing to present vaccination plans for priority groups for the next three months.
According to A. Dulkis, it is currently known that regular vaccine shipments will arrive in Lithuania every week for the next three months, allowing for clearer prioritization.
The minister also says that the data on the vaccination process is expected to be as public as possible.
The first batch of vaccines was distributed to five major hospitals in the country last weekend, medical vaccination began, and these doses of vaccine were used in the middle of last week. A person needs two doses of the vaccine three weeks apart to develop immunity.
On Tuesday, doctors are scheduled to continue getting vaccinated in two subsequent batches of the vaccine.
The BioNTech and Pfizer vaccine is the first and so far the only one authorized in the European Union.
Dust: NVSC’s contribution to pandemic management is quite modest, I am determined to demand administrative responsibility
The Minister of Health, Arūnas Dulkys, affirms that the National Center for Public Health does not contribute to the management of the coronavirus pandemic to the extent expected of it. Therefore, the minister emphasizes that he is determined to demand the responsibility of the head of the NVSC.
“The NVSC is only one of the participants, and based on how much it has really contributed to the management of this pandemic, I would not name it now as the most important participant. On the contrary, that contribution seems to me quite modest as far as possible, although the expectation could be higher, “said A. Dulkys on LRT radio, emphasizing that the NVSC issue will also be discussed in the meeting with the NVSC president on Tuesday.
The Minister of Health emphasizes that he is determined to hold the head of the NVSC accountable, but does not specify what it could be.
“It seems to me that just as it is fair to demand results from me, I am equally determined to demand some responsibility from all the directors of our health institutions. How will it be, hopefully, I want to delve into this issue, “said the minister.
“I want to be objective, but that’s the message. And the same rule applies to me, so I demand the same from other managers, “he added.
However, A. Dulkys states that before making a decision on the responsibility of the heads of the NVSC, he will want to know all the information, so he has requested explanations in writing from the head of the NVSC.
“Here, as in our entire public sector, as soon as you move, all problems start to disappear. And as long as there is no crisis, those problems are covered, they remain on the sidelines. However, when there is a situation that requires decisive action from us, when quick decisions and results are required, then those organizational models of ours falter, ”said the Minister.
ELTA recalls that the Minister of Health A. Dulkys instructed those responsible for the Ministry of Health to evaluate the responses provided by the NVSC. On the evening of January 2, SAM, having received the response from Roberta Petraitis, Director of the National Center for Public Health (NVSC), to the questions of the Minister of Health A. Dulkis about the activities of NVSC, undertakes to present the conclusions of the evaluation on January 7. The Minister will then make decisions.
SAM reported 804 unaccounted deaths during the digitization of NVCS operations. The data was obtained by comparing the October-December statistics from the NVSC and the Records Center. It was found that 324 deaths from coronavirus (COVID-19) and 480 deaths from causes other than coronavirus were not counted.
