At the proposal of the president of Seimas, Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen, the Seimas session will take place on Tuesday, but after that there will be a break until December 3.
“The work of the Seimas now must be uninterrupted, but we must also take care that both the employees of the Chancellery and the members of the Seimas are safe,” said the head of parliament during a remote session of the Seimas Board.
V.Čmilytė-Nielsen also called on MPs to carry out regular tests for coronavirus.
The Spokesperson announced that Seimas would not host events other than press conferences, Seimas members and staff would not travel on business trips, temporary permits would no longer be issued, committees and commissions would meet remotely unless the Sessions are held in private and may not be transferred to the Internet for security reasons.
If members of the Seimas are at risk, this will be considered a good reason for them not to participate in sessions of parliament.

According to V.Čmilytė-Nielsen, until remote voting is legalized, “only the most important urgent issues” will be debated in plenary sessions for the time being.
Last week, the president of the Seimas and several other parliamentarians were diagnosed with a coronavirus.
Last week, outgoing Health Minister Aurelijus Veryga called for Seimas work to be suspended for at least a couple of weeks to control the virus in parliament; according to the minister, parliamentarians should be bound by the same rules as other people.
“The most important thing now is to isolate those who have had coronaviruses and who have been in contact with them during the incubation period of the virus until the infected and sick are finally known. These are the basic epidemiological rules that must be followed in order to obtain a successful result. They apply to everyone. There can be no exceptions, ”said the minister.
