She says her mother started having leg pains in July. One day while he was at work, his son called and said that his grandmother was not getting better, so the family decided to call an ambulance. He took the woman to the Vilnius Republican Hospital (RVUL), also known as Lazdynai. The family thought that the grandmother could have clotted the blood vessels, but the RVUL did not detect it.

No, no, we don’t give anything, he says, ”recalls Daiva, but questioned the sincerity of the doctor and decided to go to the hospital herself, despite the fact that the patients could not visit due to COVID-19.
Found blue from bruises, not oriented in space
“I started to demand, I said that if they didn’t let me in, I would go differently,” says the woman. Hospital staff admitted Daiva to the hospital, but when she arrived in the ward, she says she was unable to meet her mother because, in Daiva’s words, she was “all blue, beaten, not oriented in space.”
“Swollen hands, neck, face, all black, unrecognizable. She waves her hands, and wherever I touch her, she cries, everything hurts. <...> Mom is lying, talking to herself, she with glasses, she doesn’t have glasses. I quickly took a photo.

As Daiva found out later, her mother collapsed while going to the bathroom and broke her arm and head. However, she did not receive adequate help after her daughter was convinced.
The patient who was admitted to M. Marcinkevičius Hospital on July 27 was in the medical institution until August 7. Daiva notes that her mother was injured on July 30, but the X-ray of the swollen arm was performed only a week later, and the fractures were not found neither in this, but in Lazdynai Hospital, where the patient was sent before going to the Trakai Nursing and Support Hospital.

Daiva says that she herself called the latter medical institution and asked to take her mother for further treatment, because she did not want to leave her mother in the M. Marcinkevičius hospital any longer.
On August 7, before arriving at the Trakai Nursing Hospital, Daiva’s mother was again taken to the RVUL for exams that showed a fractured large index finger and a cracked wrist bone.
“I don’t see how much she, the poor thing, had to collapse for such fractures to occur,” says the woman.

Daiva adds that, in general, it is difficult to remember the time her mother spent in the hospital. And at home she was always talkative, communicative, capable of taking care of herself, of walking.
