Although the Liberal Movement does not hide that J.Varkalys not only participated in the Seimas session, but also participated in a small party celebration where he ate a cake, isolated by contact with him, it was indicated to the parliamentarians sitting next to him and assistants to the Seimas.

“He noted that masks and gloves were used in the session, even after the Seimas session, he attended the faction members’ event, the meeting was in contact with four people.” 15 minutes stated R. Lingienė.

All are informed to isolate from November 16 to 29.

However, R. Lingienė ensures that members of the Seimas must understand what high risk contact is and isolate themselves.

“The members of the Seimas should think about what to do and lead by example, not wait for someone to report or not report there. I hear in the public space that they are talking very strangely, that we are not isolated, because maybe not the people from here in Absolute, because no one has told us. Well, somehow you need to think for yourself. After all, we all know what close contact is. And then society is deluded, no longer trusting, “said R. Lienienė.

He considered that perhaps the group meeting was very short, with masks and it was not a high-risk contact, but it was better known by the participants themselves.

“I do not know this, we are not going to be successful in all the meetings, but I would ask you not to say that you did not call, that we do not isolate you, as if we do not understand what contact is. In case of doubt, we should call and consult, but when there are so many sick and in close contact, they are really responsible. If we are informed incorrectly, we will not reverse the film, ”said R. Lingienė.

On Tuesday, it was announced that on Monday night, Seimas Liberal member Jonas Varkalys received a positive result from the COVID-19 investigation. Eugenijus Gentvilas, the eldest of the Liberal Movement faction, admitted that J.Varkalys had contact with Rimante Šalaševičiūtė, who had previously received a positive response to the coronavirus test, but did not isolate himself and participated in the swearing-in ceremony at the session from Seimas on Friday. It is true that later R.Šalaševičiūtė announced that the repeat tests did not show the virus, so he returned to the Seimas after deciding that the positive test was incorrect.

The need to isolate was discussed at the Seimas Elders Conference on Tuesday. Here, the chairman of the Liberal Movement faction E. Gentvilas was outraged that the media targeted parliamentarians for self-isolation, despite the fact that the NVSC had not ordered them to stay home.

He assured that isolation is necessary only when members of the Seimas receive a mandatory instruction from the National Public Health Center (NVSC) to isolate or a recommendation from the Seimas Chancellery to isolate.

“The same rules apply to the members of the Seimas as to the others,” said the president of the Seimas, Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen.

However, for several weeks now, the NVSC has been announcing publicly that it has been unable to identify contacts and is asking sufferers to notify their contacts themselves so they can be isolated.

“Until you get a call or message from the NVSC, you don’t have to isolate yourself,” said Rita Tamašunienė, representative of the Polish Lithuanian Election Campaign – Union of Christian Families in the Seimas.

Vigilijus Jukna, a “worker”, testified that his personal example shows that he himself received the contact message a week after the coronavirus was detected in his contact. He suggested evaluating the situation for themselves individually and, if you think you could have close contact, isolate yourself.

The president of the Seimas pointed out that parliamentarians will be offered regular tests for the coronavirus, V. Čmilytė-Nielsen intends to discuss this with the Chancellery of the Seimas on Tuesday.

“Members of the Seimas will be recommended to test regularly, we have a situation where one person or another gets sick, we have to guarantee the work of the Seimas,” said V. Čmilytė-Nielsen.
