“It just came to our notice then. I went straight to resuscitation. Doctors have been fighting for his life from the seventh day. He is not vaccinated. Infected by loved ones. In your own home. Family members are not vaccinated. He is a child.” writes the minister.
Vilnius doctors are fighting for the life of a teenager with a severe form of COVID-19, says Health Minister Arūnas Dulkys, urging those who have not been vaccinated to think.
“Currently, a child is in resuscitation in Vilnius, and the doctors are fighting for his life for the seventh day. The situation is very complicated. The boy is 14 years old, he has not been vaccinated, he has been infected from his relatives, at home”, the minister told reporters in the Seimas on Thursday.
“It just came to our attention then. Here’s the answer for everyone: companies and employers. There are also many business organizations where employees are poorly vaccinated. It seems to me that maybe we will listen to those stories and draw conclusions, ”said A. Dulkys.
According to him, hospitals are currently the place where the situation with the coronavirus is most tense.
“We currently have more than a thousand patients with covid and more than a hundred in resuscitation. I believe that if we reach about 200 patients in resuscitation, from that moment on a situation will begin in which doctors will have to choose whose life to save and the one they no longer have, ”warned the minister.
According to the Statistics Department on Thursday, the number of patients treated for COVID-19 in hospitals is currently 1,014, and 116 patients are treated in resuscitation. Compared to the previous day, the number of people in hospitals has increased by two dozen.
