– Doctor, how long do I have to wait for COVID-19 while I research on Alytus?

– It took up to two days for registered users to enter the Alytus mobile checkpoint.

On Monday it was decided that we would serve the population every five minutes instead of every five minutes, so the availability should increase from 133 to 180 people per day.

The point will work longer: 12 hours, from 8 to 20 hours.

– What is the current incidence curve of COVID-19 in Alytus?

– There were 480 sick people in Alytus on Monday. This infection spreads through foci.

– How does the mobile team work?

– The main activities are carried out by the employees of the Alytus Polyclinic, the nursing students of the Alytus College, the Alytus District Primary Health Care Center, the Alytus Sports and Medical Rehabilitation Center also contribute.

– Are you planning to resume work at the fever clinic in Alytus?

– We already had a fever clinic, when the first wave of coronavirus subsided, the decision was made to sign a cooperation agreement with the district municipality of Lazdijai, which was signed in June and is still in force today.

The possibility of resuming the activities of the fever clinic in Alytus is now being considered. We have requested permission from the Ministry of Health to use the Alytus County Tuberculosis Hospital facilities and X-ray diagnostic equipment there, but we have not yet received confirmation whether we can establish a fever clinic there.

At Alytus, we see a growing number of patients filling the hospital.

A functioning fever clinic would discharge some of the flow from our hospital.

– Can quarantine alleviate the situation?

– The quarantine has already begun, we hope that in ten days the situation will change, stabilize and improve, and that the entire health sector recovers.

Hopefully, the quarantine will benefit the residents of our city.

– What is your opinion on the establishment of the COVID-19 hospital in Alytus?

– We have 40 beds for COVID-19 patients at Stasys Kudirka Hospital in Alytus County. There is such a proposal to turn a county hospital into a coronavirus treatment center, unfortunately it would have to stop the provision of other services, and patients with other diseases should be referred to neighboring municipalities.

– What would that give?

– In this case, if COVID-19 became one of the Alytus County hospitals, everything would be concentrated in one point, full control of the infection would be guaranteed.

– Would there be enough staff to create such a center?

– Staffing would be a big challenge, but we hope to stop the spread of the disease and secure adequate staffing.

– Thanks for the conversation.
