In the radio news program “Ekspertai pataria”, the host of the program Eglė Gabrytė was interested in whether it is possible to live in the Canary Islands, earning 1500 euros.

Do you spend more than in Lithuania?

The Lithuanian Agnė Staponkutė, who has lived in Tenerife for several years, assured that she had carried out a small survey: she interviewed several families of 4 people and asked them how much they spend in Tenerife per month.

“I recently did a survey and asked families of four how much they spent per month. It is clear that the budget exceeds what you spend in Lithuania. Spend 4-5 thousand here. euros per month, “said A. Staponkutė.

Asked if it is possible to survive in Tenerife for 1.5-2 thousand. The woman assured that this amount would definitely be enough for one person.

Meanwhile, the communication specialist Ermita Kirdeikytė, who is hibernating in Tenerife, assured that the monthly budget available in Lithuania is converted quite flexibly into monthly expenses in Tenerife.

“I think that the budget that can be had in Lithuania can also be adapted very easily here, on this island of Tenerife, because in a sense it is very broad in terms of choice, it is very contrasting, in contrast to the prices. You can eat this in restaurants for 3.60 euros of fresh fish. For those who like tasting trips, tasting experiences, we have more than one restaurant, where a person can cost a hundred and more euros for dinner.

It depends a lot on what you want, what your budget is at your disposal. In terms of choice, there really is a lot to choose from, ”said E. Kirdeikytė.

Rental and food prices

An important part of the monthly funds goes to the rental of houses.

One-bedroom apartments can be rented for a thousand euros per month. Obviously, it depends on human needs. If I had a bedroom, a kitchenette, a bathroom and were far from the sea, I would rent it for a thousand euros. If a person already wants a view of the ocean, close to the ocean and that added luxury, they will clearly be over budget, ”said A. Staponkutė about apartment prices.

According to the interlocutor, apartments that cost less than a thousand euros can be rented in one case.

“Unless you rent to a person for a period longer than, say, half a year or half a year, throughout the winter. Then they sign a contract and the price is completely different, it can be around 500 euros a month,” he explained.

E. Kirdeikytė, specialist in winter communication in Tenerife, pointed out that the rental price also depends on the geographical area. You can certainly find good price options, he said, but you need to look for them longer.

“If there is a need to save, saving is really possible,” said the woman.

If you don’t want to rent a car, A. Staponkutė recommended renting a house near the ocean. “The price of an economy car is 300 euros a month,” he said.

E. Kirdeikytė assured that food prices are very similar to the prices in Lithuanian stores.

“I think some food categories are even cheaper than in Lithuania. That is, if you need to produce at home, you will definitely not spend more than you do in Lithuania,” he said.

More Lithuanians this year

The communications specialist said that he planned to travel to Tenerife for a couple of weeks, but stayed for several months.

“The decision to come here was made very spontaneously. In a figurative sense, one day it occurred to us, the next day we were already flying here. I have been here for the first time, I know this island, I have friends who have long since put down roots and stayed here. In a sense, it is very convenient to solve all the problems related to the place of residence in one call, ”said E. Kirdeikytė.

Since arriving in Tenerife with her two daughters, E. Kirdeikytė said there was some anxiety, but she managed to face all the challenges.

“Maybe somewhere in the subconscious they were like that, so we were here for a couple of weeks, but very quickly we realized that all these fears do not have a rational basis, that everything is compatible with my own personal, professional activities and studies. from my sons”. . We solved the challenges as well as possible, so we had no obstacles to stay longer, ”said the woman.

A. Staponkutė, who has lived in Tenerife for several years, assured that this year there are really many on the Lithuanian island.

“In fact, this year there are more and more Lithuanians than ever who fly for a week or a month and stay for a few months. The situation is like this, with us on the south coast of Tenerife, like summer on the Baltic coast ”, he said.

Families who come to Tenerife with young children have the opportunity to take their children to kindergarten.

“Most families with young children come to school, choose kindergartens and private schools. The prices, no matter how much I asked, are not higher than in Vilnius. An hour can cost four euros. The more time a son, the cheaper you can get everything and even the thing is that if you have two children, the second child receives 50 percent. discount. These prices are good, “said A. Staponkutė.

Get medical help

“I had several serious injuries: a knee injury, a broken nose. I am an extreme sports enthusiast. I applied for a private clinic, they helped me the same day, all the necessary tests were performed and the insurance reimbursed all medical expenses” said E. Kirdeikytė.

Even so, he claimed to have heard the myth that the public health sector in the Canary Islands is superior to the private one. This myth was confirmed by A. Staponkutė resident in Tenerife.

“In the public sector, medicine is very well organized. They really serve the people who live here very well,” said A. Staponkutė.

If a person on vacation in Tenerife is the holder of a European Health Card, they also have access to a public medical institution.

Although the epidemiological situation, according to E. Kirdeikytė, is better in Tenerife, there are restrictions. There is a curfew, which stipulates that you must return home at 10 pm, in restaurants you can sit at tables for four people, in stores you need to wear masks, use disinfectants.
