15 minutes Gaza editor Žilvinas Pekarskas announced that in the end, Kreda’s crew navigator Darius Vaičiulis announced that he would no longer be the co-pilot for Antanas Juknevičius next year.

This was D. Vaičiulis’ fifth Dakar, for A. Juknevičius it was already the eleventh. When finally asked what will happen in a year, the athletes smiled.

“I’ll probably be here, let’s see who. And I don’t know Darius, you’ll have to persuade,” Antanas said.

Darius, in turn, said: “I can be here too. But I won’t be able to help Antanas next year. I can fly, but it is very risky to wait for me, we already know the stories when you may have to wait three weeks for the plane. I’ll be in Antarctica all December. Maybe here in January. “

A few years ago, D. Vaičiulis flew directly from Antarctica to Dakar, South America, where he climbed to the top of Vinson in Antarctica and then got stuck due to a snow storm. He managed to go to Dakar, only to return home to Lithuania earlier.

The runners have been traveling together in Dakar since 2017. Their best achievement is 12th in South America in 2018. It was the best achievement of Lithuanian and Baltic athletes in the toughest races in the world up to that year.

When they raced with A. Juknevičius for the first time in 2017, they were 21st overall. In 2019, the success made them smile much less and as soon as they left the Dakar they finished, however, and stayed in 35th place. Last year, the crew was ranked 20th in Saudi Arabia.

This year his position is 23rd, he is second among Lithuanian car riders.
