D. Zavackas on the morning’s situation: “A level has been reached that will be difficult to resist”

Darius Gudelis revealed that he had many last names in November, but the list of candidates was narrowed to three in January. He did not reveal other candidates, only hinted that they were foreign professionals who currently hold positions in other clubs.

“These are certain names in the world of basketball and we will continue those conversations. We have to prepare and unite the entire Vilnius basketball community: academy, sports schools. So that they can use that work together for a common goal, “said D. Gudelis.

The main shareholder of “Rytas” revealed that this process was planned and the decision to accept D. Zavackas as sports director was supported by the players and coaches of the team.

“Today we made the final decision to sign a contract with a long-term member of the Rytas family, who has accumulated experience, knows the Lithuanian basketball market and has authority. Before making this decision, we consulted with the players and coaches, who they also know Donatas and bring up the good stuff, ”said Ryto’s Chairman of the Board.

“We have to take responsibility for entrusting Donald with the position of sporting director on a temporary basis in October. The team has staff, the season has started, it seems that changes will be needed here. But it’s obvious, and it has never been put in the country , that we need a human administration that has authority and word ”, added D. Gudelis.

D. Zavackas said that the position of sporting director of “Rytas” will be a great challenge for him, but also a good opportunity.

“I agree that now maybe the situation is unpleasant, someone could call it tragic. But looking at it from my personal side or from another angle, if she were grateful, probably no one would seek any change. “It’s a challenge for me too, but I see it as an opportunity or an opportunity,” said the morning sports director.

“Could it be worse? No one knows the answer. Everyone agreed that they can’t, but I think they can. I’m not going to deny that the team is going through difficult times. D. Zavackas said his wife Erika was the first to learn of the Rytas deal.

“It just came to our knowledge then. But the decision has been made, the way back no longer exists. I have two children, they didn’t fully understand where I was flying,” said D. Zavackas.
