After going to a performance rehearsal in Kaunas in late September, D.Vaitiekūnas later found out that his colleague had received a positive result for COVID-19. To avoid unpleasant events, he decided to contact a coronavirus hotline to report contact with an infected person. No known male was registered for the test. The person who responded to Dominika by phone reported that NVSC employees would contact him. Everything happened in an incredible order.
The actor shares his story with People.lt and he says that if it weren’t for his conscience and a negative outcome in this situation, the story might have had a less beautiful ending. Only nine days after contact with the infected, the man was contacted by professionals investigating the situation. His examination took time, and although Dominic was tested at his expense and tested negative, under the current system he was not allowed to leave the country and the man was to be quarantined until October 5.
SELF-ISOLATION AND BUREAUCRACY MEANING OF LIFE
He was morally determined to do it. When working and dealing with large groups of people, it is only a matter of time. So on the last weekend of September, when I entered the age of Christ on my birthday, I received the gift of self-isolation and the opportunity to experience with my own skin how the system works. And it turned out that this system works badly.
Today is officially the last day of my self-isolation, I am healthy, I have no symptoms and the test is negative. In a word, I was lucky and lucky in this place because I was able to drag a lot of people from behind to house arrest. And yet infected. And to colleagues who have sadly been affected by the virus, I wish them the best.
I also wish that the Lithuanian government, which is stubborn and reiterates that it is ready for the situation, will recover from a lie and recover from an inadequate assessment of the situation. At least from what I hear, SAM reiterates that he is ready for the situation. That readiness is likely evidenced by reports that NVSCs are leaving employees because they can’t cope with workloads.

Monday. A colleague informs me at night that her test is positive. I’m testing a hotline to sign up for a test. Don’t let me say NVSC will assign it to me. Set. Just for some reason in Kaunas. Therefore, I took the exam in Vilnius on my own. Monday was the seventh day after the risky contact. At night I get a negative answer. I’m glad. I’m not sick. And I’m thinking about how to rub things more. All work will wait. The dog was given to friends because I cannot drive according to the rules. But on Friday I have to fly to Iceland for a month. For artistic residency. If I receive a negative response to the test, I would like to contact NVSC. For Iceland. It no longer works.

Tuesday. I really wanted to contact the investigators of the case to obtain permission to interrupt the self-isolation 10 days after the risk contact because I did not feel any symptoms, the test, negative, I had to fly to Iceland on business. There, already, two tests must be carried out in a period of five days and quarantined during those 5 days. I call the NVSC on a general phone. I feel like I won’t be up for a long time, I plug in some headphones and go to make lunch. I listen to the tinkling for two hours. Pavalgau. It’s not like that. I digest. After a couple of hours she responds. I explain the situation. They say I don’t know anything, call the investigator on the case. I mean, and who is investigating my case? Explain who called you. When, I say, nobody called me yet. I’ll call you myself. How did he not call that? And you didn’t sign the letter that you agree to the rules of self-isolation? What writing, I’m amazed. Say, then call Kaunas if the contact took place in Kaunas.

I’m calling. Pick up, connect. I explain the situation. The specialist says he still doesn’t know if I’ll be able to fly. Call back at night. Calls at night. He says no, no way. You are in the system, you run the risk of administrative liability for breach of self-isolation. And it marks the end of my self-isolation: October 5. This is Baibai Iceland.
The next day I get a call from Mrs. Vilija. From NVSC. Report to my isolation before October 8. I ask why. You ask me if I played this and that kind of performance? Sakau – nevainainau. They wrote to me that you played. I mean, yesterday I discussed my case with an epidemiologist from Kaunas, maybe you will contact and coordinate with her. Ms. Vilija assures me that she cannot contact her because she does not know her colleagues from Kaunas, she herself is from Vilnius. Tell me, why did you already sign the letter? No, I did not sign. Then I won’t send it to you. If anything changes, I will call you back, but I think you should listen to what your colleagues in Kaunas have told you.
The next day I meet another NVSC employee. Mrs. Regina from Kaunas with a pleasant voice. The conversation is identical. I mean, maybe you can, if you’re already from Kaunas, talk to your colleagues investigating the case. She says I can’t because I’m just an informant. And did you sign the letter? No, I did not receive any letters. Negavot. We will call you back.

On Thursday I found out who is specifically investigating the case and my name is the fourth person, Ms. Kristina. She listens to me kindly. He explains that since many musicians and theaters in Kaunas are isolated, it is bureaucratically simpler for all of them to be isolated by October 8. She agrees with me that she nefaina for no more reason still a couple of days to spend at home. Because my contact was 22d. I will send a letter – sign.
What’s the point of staying home with a negative test and no symptoms?
Judging by how late she sent the letter, I could tell that Ms. Kristina works a lot of overtime. And so, 10 days after the risk exposure, I was officially sent to isolation. But there was no time left and perhaps it made sense to assess the risk factor of my contact, to clarify with whom I had contact.
What’s the point of all this? Officially send me to isolation after 10 days? What’s the point of staying home with a negative test and no symptoms? I asked my GP, she replied: the meaning is just bureaucratic. What is the point of prohibiting a sick person from leaving the country? What’s the point of not being seduced by a dog? What is the point of not allowing the garbage to be taken out? Well, bureaucratic.
During all conversations with NVSC, I managed to maintain a polite tone, although I really wanted to do something, but also the women who spoke to me, listened, listened, spoke kindly to me and they do not deserve our anger because they only work, work overtime and cannot Do nothing. do because the system doesn’t seem to help them. Nothing helps them.
We need to adapt and not turn our life into an illogical prison with the meaning of bureaucracy
Please go to the polls next week, and if you have someone in your immediate area who is going to vote for the peasants, remind them who are liars and how they are not responsible for the bazaar. The pandemic will continue for a long time, not for a month, or even a year. We need to adapt and not turn our life into an illogical prison in the sense of bureaucracy. Go to the polls at any cost, even if you want to spoil your sick leave.
The week was ohoho. I finally managed to buy new tickets and hopefully make it to Iceland next Friday. And in the middle of the month we will be able to join the 12 other artists who are already creating successfully in Reykjavik. And a week at home had benefits too. I cleaned the windows, met some of the neighbors across the street. I cleaned the windows. Oh, I already mentioned it. I descaled the glassware. Wow, how interesting it was. Wow. Thanks to friends for looking at the dog who brought me ice cream, wine, chicken, cigarettes, flowers. And that asked how abundantly it was bubbling.
