Romena Savickienė, director of the Klaipėda Cultural and Tourist Information Center, says that information has changed very fast lately and the overall situation is simply unpredictable.

He confirmed that Marina had been released on August 29. Should you leave Copenhagen, your visit to the Lithuanian port has not yet been canceled, travel agencies are preparing to receive you. This is not the first time you will visit the port of Klaipeda.

“According to preliminary data, about 400 passengers arrive. All of them, of course, are vaccinated. The only thing that worries me is that the majority are American citizens. If you go for a walk in the city, you may not be accepted in cafes, because you will not have Lithuanian or European passports.

Of course, they can use their available vaccination document. Maybe everyone is going on a hike. Our agency “Mėja Travel” is updating the information with the National Center for Public Health, “said R. Savickienė.

Slowly rising

More than 50 cruise ships have already registered to call at the port of Klaipeda next year.

“We have high hopes that the visits will not be canceled. Be that as it may, vaccinations are happening all over the world, everyone would like the next season to be already assured. Because it is very difficult to work so much for travel agencies, that now They are getting up so strong, like for cruise lines, etc. Many guides have not been working for a long time, many even changed their qualifications, found additional activities, but are very happy to now return to their favorite job ”, described the interviewee on the expectations and difficulties of the tourism sector.

According to R. Savickienė, the worst stage, which became more pronounced after the first quarantine, has already passed for the cruise companies. There were also bankrupt companies, some of which merged.

“It just came to our knowledge then. The cruise companies themselves want to move the ships, start operations because their crews have been out of work for a long time. The companies often only accept vaccinated people on the ships, because in this case there is a greater guarantee in the ports that the ship will be accepted, ”said R. Savickienė.

Cruise companies are starting to work, but their ships are not yet as full as they were before the pandemic. Currently, the number of passengers is still low. Companies calculate how many passengers should be transported.

All tourism is recovering, but very slowly, both in flights and services, not only in Lithuania, but also abroad. In some countries, such as Germany, it is still recommended that people travel within the country with the least amount of travel abroad possible. Understandably, this has some impact.
