SBGS officials found another 1,820 packages of Minsk Capital QS cigarettes and 840 packages of Fest cigarettes with Belarusian stamps and 20 unpackaged Winston Blue cigarettes. A total of 8,180 packages of smuggled cigarettes were detected.

The owner of the house, a 40-year-old man from Šiauliai, was also arrested.

A pre-trial investigation was launched against the Pagėgiai border team in relation to the illegal disposal of excise goods. There is a fine or prison of up to 8 years.

Both detainees were released on remand after questioning, with written promises not to leave.

The Širvintos resident was already known to the border guards. He was arrested last year by SBGS officials for illegally disposing of excise property, and the court fined him 1,000.
