A complete disinfection has been carried out in the businesses where workers infected by coronavirus have worked.

“The growing number of new cases of COVID-19 infection among our employees reflects the deterioration of the epidemiological situation in the country on a daily basis. Workers infected with coronavirus receive treatment at home. Employees who had potentially close contact with colleagues with COVID-19 was isolated. We consulted with the National Center for Public Health and took all recommended preventive actions to prevent the spread of COVID-19, “says Ernesta Dapkienė, Director of the Communication and Image Department of the Maxima retail chain.

An employee of a food production workshop in Vilnius, who was diagnosed with COVID-19 disease, last visited the workplace on Tuesday, October 20. He underwent a COVID-19 test on October 25. During the epidemiological diagnosis, two potentially close contacts with colleagues were identified. The employees isolated themselves.

“Today we meet extremely strict hygiene requirements: shopping carts, baskets and other miscellaneous surfaces are periodically disinfected, and fresh air circulation is increased for store ventilation. Employees are also familiar with additional recommendations to avoid direct contact and maintaining a safe distance. We encourage our employees to test for COVID-19 for prevention purposes in all municipalities that only organize such tests, “says E. Dapkienė.

Maxima has special coronavirus insurance for its current and future employees. Employees receive the necessary protective equipment: medical masks or safety shields, gloves, hand sanitizing liquids. Temperature is measured daily for Maxima employees. If employees feel unwell, have symptoms of a cold or the flu, they are asked to stay home.

Shoppers are asked to keep a safe distance in stores, remember to wear protective masks, disinfect their hands, and wear free disposable gloves available at the entrance. In municipalities where local quarantine is applied, buyers at Maxima stores have the opportunity to receive a disposable mask free of charge. Starting tomorrow October 28, all Maxima stores will receive a one-time protective mask at no charge. This procedure is valid until November 11.

During quarantine, the flow of shoppers to stores is limited.
