Coronavirus outbreak at the Kaunas company: 18 are sick, about 200 employees are still under study

“Two hundred employees are being investigated, we don’t have (results) yet, but we really hope to have it today,” R. Lingienė told Lithuanian Radio on Wednesday morning.

According to her, the subjects currently had no close contact with infected people, so the number of infected people should not increase significantly. A total of 18 people have been diagnosed with coronavirus at the company so far.

“According to initial data, these people had no close contact with the infected, they are employees of the transportation department of this company and our colleagues stated that they were at low risk, we should not get staggering numbers,” said R. Lingienė.

On Tuesday, a coronavirus was detected in 18 people at Hegelmann Transport in Kaunas, the Health Ministry reported.

According to the ministry, according to preliminary data, all those infected with the coronavirus came from Uzbekistan in early July to work for a company dedicated to international transport.

According to SAM, all those infected are currently isolated. NVSC specialists find out if the infected people had contact with other people. NSVC staff also take other actions necessary to control the outbreak.

NVSC reported the first case at this company last week on Thursday and the second on Monday.

According to official data on Tuesday, a total of 1,875 people in Lithuania were infected with the coronavirus, 213 people are still sick and 1,571 have recovered.

79 people died from COVID-19, and 12 other people who died from coronaviruses died from other causes.
