Coronavirus focus at Siauliai University Šiauliai Region

Antanas Bartulis, director of the city’s municipal administration, reported that there are about 800 people in self-isolation. According to the director, this week is a bit more stable, after the sharp increase in cases last week.

Of the 115 cases registered in the country on Tuesday, 19 were established for residents of Šiauliai County. Simona Abromavičienė, Acting Advisor to the Šiauliai Department of the National Center for Public Health, reported that the situation in Šiauliai remains unfavorable.

The 11 new cases detected on Tuesday are related to the Republican Hospital Šiauliai: coronavirus was confirmed in 9 patients and 2 relatives of employees. A total of 51 hospital cases associated with this outbreak were reported: 21 patients, 20 employees, and 10 individuals with secondary cases.

Two cases of infection were detected at Radviliškis Hospital: an employee and a relative. A total of 135 cases are associated with the outbreak: 62 patients, 50 employees and 23 secondary cases.

Two other new cases registered on Tuesday are related to Kuršėnai Hospital, one of which is a patient and the other a secondary case. A total of 6 cases were reported: 5 patients and 1 secondary case.

S. Abromavičienė named new outbreaks of coronavirus. On Tuesday, 5 infected students were identified in the 1st year of the Faculty of Education, Music and Pedagogy at Šiauliai University. In the epidemiological study, the infection is associated with students from Raseiniai, where the number of infections is currently the highest in the country. According to the manager, the number of people infected with coronavirus in the university is increasing, the situation is constantly changing.

A child became ill at the Kuršėnai COVID-19 orphanage, and other children who had close contact were isolated.

The Health Ministry said Wednesday that it would temporarily suspend registration at mobile checkpoints for coronavirus infection testing for technical reasons. It has been promised that the registration will be renewed starting at 8 am today.
