Coronavirus figures: 474 new cases, 75 in Klaipeda County, 3 new deaths

Records of new coronavirus infections continue to be recorded in Lithuania. During the last day, almost half a thousand new cases of COVID-19 – 474 were registered, and in Klaip condadoda County – 75. Unfortunately, three new deaths from this disease were also reported.

In Klaipėda county, 8 cases confirmed yesterday are related to the Klaipėda Hope outbreak, 5 – in the Kretinga Social Services Center.

The National Center for Public Health reports that 4 more cases have been recorded in the Klaipeda University Hospital outbreak, one of them in the gynecology department of this hospital. 4 cases were recorded in the outbreak of the Klaipda Seafarers Hospital, 3 of them are related to the outbreak in the Palanga department of this hospital, 2 cases were confirmed in the outbreaks of the Palanga Rehabilitation Hospital and the Klaipėda Republican Hospital.

Four more cases in Klaipėda county are related to the Kartena school multifunctional center, the other four – to the outbreak of the Kartena art collective.

Of the three coronavirus deaths recorded overnight, two cases were confirmed in Šilutė district. One person was in the 40 to 50 age group and had other chronic diseases. The circumstances of the infection are unknown. Another person was in the 80-90 age group and also had other chronic illnesses. And the circumstances of this person’s coronavirus infection are unknown. The third death was in Marijampolė county. The person belonged to the age group of 80 to 90 years. The circumstances of the infection are possibly related to the Marijampolė special welfare homes.

Municipalities that have entered the red zone must not only follow the recommendations and instructions of specialists, but can also decide on the announcement of the local quarantine.

SAM reports that decisions on the announcement of quarantine in specific municipalities are made on Wednesdays at the Government meeting. So whether quarantine will be introduced in these municipalities will be decided next week.

Currently, 21 municipalities in the country are included in the red zone, 26 in the yellow zone and 13 in the green zone.
