The director of the institution, Violeta Grigienė, said that patients arrive at this hospital both from other hospitals and from their homes.

“They come with a negative test result, but it can only be an incubation period. And after 5 or 7 days, the test comes back positive. Some patients have no symptoms, others have mild to moderate symptoms. We isolate those patients. Here, on Friday, a patient from Likėnai arrived with a negative test, and a few days later he tested positive, ”said V. Grigienė.

According to the interlocutor, unvaccinated or partially vaccinated people became the most infected.

“Several people have been vaccinated, but it is known that the delta variety can make people sick and vaccinate because it is extremely contagious.

I’m sadly surprised, but actually a large proportion of people go home unvaccinated. And not only the older ones, but also those in the middle ”, said the manager.

According to V. Grigienė, there is a high probability that the coronavirus entered the hospital due to the behavior of irresponsible visitors.

According to her, as of July 1, according to the order of the Minister, it was necessary to ensure the order of assistance with a passport of opportunities. However, the Panevėžys Nursing Hospital has even toughened up this procedure a bit, because there are a couple hundred patients in the institution, who are often older and have very weak immune systems.

It was recorded in the visiting procedure that patients can only be visited by people with passports or documents confirming vaccination. If you don’t have it, you can run a PCR test. As a result, according to V. Grigienė, great anger was received from those close to him.

After the wife’s visit, the husband also fell ill.

It was recently revealed that a patient had been visited by a wife who was feeling unwell that day. During the visit, the woman had removed her mask and kissed the man. He was later diagnosed with COVID-19 disease. Soon after, her husband, who was in a nursing home, became infected.

“Now it is very difficult to find the culprits, where the progress began, whether from home or from another medical institution. After last week, when we found new cases, the visit was strictly prohibited. Now, although my relatives are very angry , I will definitely not open the visit ”, said the interlocutor.

V. Grigienė emphasized that the behavior of relatives in the hospital is extremely irresponsible and really contributes to the spread of viruses.

“The hospital staff, although they have a lot of work to do, still had to monitor the incomprehensible behavior of the visitors. It was also a great challenge. And the housewives who come often are not vaccinated, they use the masks incorrectly or do not use them, they try to sit on the beds, although it has never been possible to do so. But it seems that everyone has forgotten everything and we are making a fate behind the mustache, whether that virus is overlooked or not.

There are visitors who remove their masks, kiss the patients. As much as we ask them not to go, not to touch, not to caress, not to kiss, we are still angry, because we love our loved ones so much! A very small proportion are understanding people. But after all, the second year of a pandemic, not the beginning, we know all the rules that we need masks, short contact, to keep distances. And we still haven’t followed him, “lamented V. Grigienė.
