This is a news portal lrytas.lt confirmed by gym director Ramutė Latvelienė. She said that about 30 students were isolated from the two diseases.
Delphi recalls that Rolanda Lingienė, head of the Vilnius department of the National Center for Public Health (NVSC), said on Monday that more than 200 people had to be isolated in schools during the first 4 days of the school year due to cases of coronavirus. NVSC is preparing training for school communities next week to ensure schools are not subjected to mass closures or quarantines.
The last 2 cases of contagion were identified in students in the capital. According to the epidemiologist, COVID-19 was established for a student at a private school in Vilnius.
“The boy was in school for the last time on September 2. Infected by contact with an infected person at home. A class of 14 children and two teachers have been isolated, ”said R. Lingienė.
He appreciated the school’s cooperation with the NVSC and did not impose undue restrictions. At that time, another case of coronavirus, said a specialist identified for a Vilnius student Martynas Mažvydas Progymnasium.
“He got infected in the home environment, he was in school from September 1 to 3. The whole class and teachers are isolated, a total of 25 people. (…) This student was found to be in a soccer club training session. Therefore, the number of people who have had contact can increase ”, admitted R. Lingienė.
However, the specialist stressed that schools “will have to live with the virus for a long time,” so they should not be in a hurry to close institutions or isolate unfocused classrooms, she said.
“When a case arises at school, school communities often choose a strategy not to live in a new reality with the virus, not to take all protective measures, but to prevent threats that have not even been identified beforehand. This, of course, is also a solution, but it is possible to quickly get into a situation where all schools will introduce quarantine everywhere in this way. Currently, in 4 days, more than 200 children, their parents and teachers had to be isolated, ”said R. Lingienė.
At the same time, he reported that schools will receive distance education next week on how to meet all epidemiological requirements and what to do if someone at the institution is diagnosed with coronavirus.
According to the epidemiologist, if the schools had applied self-isolation much more than they would like, the number of individuals so isolated would have been several hundred more.
