Conservatives will elect a president: Landsberg is nominated by most divisions, as do two crickets

Provisional information on the candidates proposed by the TS-LKD section in the presidential elections on Friday 15 minutes presented by the party’s executive secretary, Martynas Prievelis.

“The great majority of the divisions and structures of the party offer only the candidacy of the current president, Gabriel Landsbergis, 35 proposals,” he said.

Seimas members L. Kasčiūnas and P. Saudargas received more modest support: 12 and 10 proposals, respectively.

It is proposed that the elder of the Seimas TS-LKD Radvilė Morkūnaitė-Mikulėnienė faction be nominated as a candidate in the elections by 5 divisions or party structures, Finance Minister Gintarė Skaiste – 2.

A proposal was received by: the Minister of National Defense Arvydas Anušauskas, the Minister of Social Security and Labor Monika Navickienė, the Parliamentarian Žygimantas Pavilionis and the Minister of Education, Science and Sports Jurgita Šiugždinienė.

The TS-LKD Executive Secretary highlighted that the branches and structures of the party for presidents can nominate more than one candidate.

The nomination procedure will end on February 23 and the final list will be published on February 26.

The first round of open presidential elections will be held from March 27 to 28 and the second from April 24 to 25.

Due to the epidemiological situation, voting in elections will be organized only by mail and online.
