Promises don’t have to be kept
Vakaro žinios became interested in this event, as it was announced that not only Ingrida Šimonytė, but also the party’s president, Gabrielius Landsbergis, would participate in the upcoming Seimas “number one” elections. The latter is not one of those who answers a business phone paid by taxpayers, and has many questions. So the time before or after the event is a great opportunity to ask, for example, about your family’s impressive enrichment last year. Last year, the politician himself managed the property “alone” for 1.54 million. However, his wife Austėja Landsbergienė, who declared the property for 2018 for 1.87 million. Last year, assets increased to 12.9 million. euros
We were hoping that perhaps G. Landsbergis would finally reveal the secret of his wife’s impressive deal when the million dollar plot was transferred for 1 euro. After all, it was interesting how G. Landsbergis himself thinks why he became a politician he doesn’t trust anymore, even 64% don’t trust him. voters. According to this indicator, he even surpassed his grandfather Vytautas Landsbergis.
G. Landsbergis solemnly promised to speak after the event, but after the event, the woman who accompanied some politicians asked the journalist what kind of media it is. When he said that about the “Vakaro žinios”, the politician and his partner unexpectedly declared that it was time for them to fly. Frankly not too surprised. After all, he knew that Vakaro žinios was not one of those media outlets that flirt with politicians.
Received no interest
And the event itself was very peculiar. Standing behind the makeshift podium, I. Šimonytė initially moved according to the music allowed, and then said conservatives would throw voters (more than a million) into mailboxes. after the questionnaire. It contains three questions (just underline the correct answer): what are the two most important unsolved problems? which two solutions would best serve to strengthen the state; which political forces conservatives should cooperate with.
Near I. Šimonytė were several dozen conservatives (quite a few members of the Seimas), in front of them, a handful of spectators (excluding journalists, around 15-20). It was surprising that all those viewers enthusiastically accepted I. Šimonytė’s words, after which they gladly allowed the conservatives to shake hands without even disinfecting theirs. Later it turned out to be the simplest trick: conservatives invited conservatives to play the role of spectators. Invisible to anyone. And here, the real random passers-by kept walking and passing, only one couple spoke Russian: “You see, Mrs. Šimonytė is doing something in our market.”
The first interlocutor confirmed Vakaro žinios’ suspicions that they were spectators at the party.
“I always vote for this party, and the event, like the first one, was quite impressive,” said businessman Arthur. He admitted to being a member of the Conservative Party and attended the event because he saw an invitation on Facebook. Admittedly, Mr. Artūras admitted that he is not satisfied with all of the party’s decisions, often disputed, and also, according to him, it was necessary to invite not only like-minded people, but also opponents. Then the event would look more solid, and perhaps even manage to attract something to his side.
The other interlocutor, the teacher Nijolė, immediately asked if she was not a partisan. Match.
“I care about education and deforestation. The party promises to resolve these issues, “- Ms Nijolė did not miss the opportunity to persecute her relatives.
Comment of the philosopher, publicist Vytautas RUBAVIČIUS:
When only his own people are invited to an event to show journalists there is no objection to what conservatives say is a kind of hoax. On the other hand, politicians constantly cheat. They promise one and then explain that the promises do not have to be kept because the solutions would be populist. But when he promises, he doesn’t “think” that he promises populist things. He promises what people like, even though they know they never will.
To attract as many voters as possible, everything from scams to cheap tricks is used. Here yesterday, the conservatives showed that they were open to the people, they would listen to their problems and pain, although they had to understand that there would be no one who wanted to come. Everyone understands that promises made in the market mean nothing. And all politicians know about pain, because they really follow the media, which constantly covers those pains. Conservatives want to show that something works because only some of its characters are publicly visible.
Conservatives often resort to cheap tricks. Now they are supposed to interview over a million people on how to strengthen Lithuania. However, it is clear that nothing will change from what people write, even if conservatives win the elections. Everything is done just to make people think that conservatives are doing something. People imagine reading a complete sheet for each of them.
Conservatives spread conservative ideas. But they don’t mean anything, because that conservatism hasn’t been on the minds of conservative leaders for a long time. They are a neoliberal organization. Recent rankings have shown that there is a big divide even at the top of the party. The party might consider whether the president should verify if he is still the party president. After all, the votes in the Seimas in recent months on matters important to the state showed that the position of G. Landsbergis coincides with that of Aušrinė Armonaitė and Remigijus Šimašius and differs from that of many conservatives.
Landsberg became the most distrustful politician. I do not have much confidence in those surveys, but with regard to Mr. Landsberg, it is clear that mistrust is high. Why? Because it becomes the shadow of A.Armonaitė and R.Šimašius. Support the actions carried out by these people or tend to what I.Šimonytė says. So what kind of party leader is he? People are watching this, so they become increasingly suspicious. Furthermore, they are increasingly convinced that such publications are very useful in creating personal well-being. Sudden increases in Landsberg’s wealth demonstrate this. And clarifying such facts will certainly not help the ratings of either the party leader or the entire party.
Let’s remember how the conservatives organized the election of their party’s presidential candidate. Still, Lithuania could vote for him, not just supporters, but also party supporters. And there were two candidates: Ingrida Šimonytė and Vygaudas Ušackas. It is obvious that the alleged elections were only a desire to show that the opinions of ordinary people are being heard, although it has long been decided to nominate I. Šimonytė as a candidate at the top of the party. After all, they persuaded her to run long before the elections.
And now she has long been persuaded to be the party leader in the Seimas elections. It is very strange, because I. Šimonytė is not conservative. Not only because he is not a member of the party, but also because he does not have conservative opinions. For example, their approach to economics is neoliberal.
