In early September, the Estonian Refugee Council collected clothing, bedding and shoes, which, according to the Lithuanian Red Cross, are among the most needed items in 34 refugee camps.
Using donations collected in Estonia, humanitarian aid was sent to a collection point in Vilnius. Two refugee humanitarian workers were also sent to Lithuania for a week to help with the daily work of the Lithuanian Red Cross in the border camps.
These workers also recorded the needs and conditions of the camps and collected people’s stories.
The Estonian Refugee Council notes that if this need persists, it will continue to collect donations and support refugees in Lithuania.
