Viktor Uspaskich, MEP and chair of the Labor Party, has publicly encouraged people to buy mineral water, which he says protects against Covid-19 and makes the disease easier for the sick.
„[Vanduo], which would help to obtain immunity against Covid-19 and facilitate the recovery of the patient. This is a completely new recipe, “said V. Uspaskich.
12 liters of this water (24 bottles of 0.5 liters each), which is sold carbonated or non-carbonated, costs 36 euros, although V. Uspaskich assures that he does not want to profit from it.
“We are not going to make money, we are not going to save. <...> We are not doing this for money, “Uspaskich said.
Covid-19 “Immunity”
According to V. Uspaskich, the water must be drunk for 28 days, “then immunity is acquired.”
V. Uspaskich announced the trade of this “magic” water but in no way scientifically confirmed in one of his direct conversations on Facebook.
“We will talk about the possibility, especially for those who do not want to be vaccinated, to protect themselves with water. It is very good water, I will not show the name yet because you will see. I drink, my whole family drinks. About a thousand people already drink in Lithuania “, assured V. Uspaskich.
V. Uspaskich himself also states that “he has not used drugs in academic medicine for 11 years”, and that his family does not use drugs.
According to him, the water was created according to Japanese technology, using the “virus energy code” supposedly obtained from China.
“We got the energy code for this virus from the Chinese, we have acquaintances because we have been communicating for a long time. And we created such an elimination program for Covid-19, we created a water structuring apparatus that structures the water.
This water practically creates cellular immunity and prepares the body to fight Covid-19. Anyway, this water is already programmed from six strains of this virus. Six varieties of this coronavirus, we already have codes ”, assured V. Uspaskich.
The virus is not just for you
In addition to publicizing the mystical water, V. Uspaskich embarked on the reflection that Covid-19, which has already taken 1.7 million in the world. lives, appeared in the world not only for themselves, but to teach humanity a lesson.
“It just came to our knowledge then. To draw everyone’s attention to anti-ecological thinking, communication towards anti-ecological, anti-ecological action. There is nothing accidental in this world,” said V. Uspaskich.
Here, too, the politician adds that the world must not overcome the virus, but learn to live with it.
“We have to learn with [virusu] live, not only to protect yourself and others from this virus, but to protect you from taking lessons from people. Because learning a lesson is the greatest sin on this planet, “Uspaskich said.
Between talking and crime
Seimas member Antanas Matulas, who has worked as a doctor for many years and runs Pasvalys District Central Hospital, is shocked by V. Uspaskich’s behavior, advertising products that have not been scientifically approved at all.
“It is difficult to see that this is the language of a person who occupies that position. Perhaps this is a kind of false news,” said Antanas Matulas, chairman of the Health Affairs Committee, after seeing the video of V. Uspaskich.
However, A. Matulas finds it hard to believe that the recording could be directed. Here, too, he emphasizes that Covid-19 treatment other than drugs or vaccines is not possible.
“I find it difficult to fool a member of the European Parliament into suggesting treatments like boosting immunity or curing people with coronavirus. This is simply medically impossible to explain. I think this is on the verge of serious communication,” said A. Matulas .
According to the member of the Seimas, the speeches made by V. Uspaskich are false and unscientific.
“Attempts to charge the water with a magnet or to sanctify it, to bless it with some kind of healing, have not been confirmed at all. The more so since it is not clear from Uspaskich’s comment how he produces that water, which has become “curative and strengthens immunity.”
This cannot be scientifically substantiated. Mr. Uspaskich, I believe, was speaking. One should take some responsibility. <...> At this stage, misleading people, even referring to distributors, is just … well, balancing rumors and crime, ”said A. Matulas.
There is no other way without the vaccine
V. Uspaskich’s trade in “magic” water is also condemned by other members of the Seimas. Among them is Antanas Guoga from Riga.
“It is always healthy to drink plenty of water and I recommend everyone to do so. But who will protect himself from fights, here is the opinion of one person. I hope that those who contribute to the distribution of this ‘magic’ water will think about the consequences of such an ‘alternative vaccination’. And they are willing to take responsibility and pay compensation if the water does not work, “wrote A. Guoga on his Facebook account.
According to him, vaccinating against Covid-19 is not everyone’s choice, but “so far it is the only way to protect against the virus based on science, fact and reason.”
“At such a delicate moment, when we are close to breaking the situation, we must especially refrain from inciting public opinion, raising unfounded versions or organizing incomprehensible actions. I am in favor of vaccines developed by high-level scientific forces. And as soon as possible. We will overcome the darkness, even if we need very strong floodlights, “wrote A. Guoga.
It’s impossible to beat Covid-19 without a vaccine, says Professor Aurelija Žvirblienė, head of the Department of Immunology and Cell Biology at the Vilnius University Center for Life Sciences.
“If we want to live differently than we do now, then we have to look for weapons to fight this virus. The most effective weapon is a vaccine. We know this from the history of infectious diseases. Unfortunately, the vaccine is the only way, ”emphasized A. Žvirblienė.
According to her, for society to develop immunity to the coronavirus, 70% should be vaccinated in theory. Lithuanian population.
Doctors and epidemiologists are outraged
“We see all statements that completely deny science, unequivocally negative, especially in the current situation, when we have such a large number of COVID-19 cases,” Justina Petravičienė, representative of the National Center for Public Health, told BNS.
“We hear from doctors and scientists that the vaccine is the only way out of the quarantine regime, and we hope and ask everyone to release information based on science and evidence,” he said.
Vytautas Kasiulevičius, deputy dean of the Vilnius University Medical Faculty, called this step “nonsense that does not help to improve the situation.”
“Some people are exposed to all this and many people will believe it. There are voters, fans, supporters, of course, there is a public relations campaign and everything,” V. Kasiulevičius told BNS.
During the previous day, 1,773 new cases of coronavirus were confirmed in Lithuania, the Department of Statistics reported on Monday.
Since the start of the pandemic, COVID-19 has infected 132,000 people in the country. 369 people, 68 thousand. 370 – still sick, 62 thousand. 98 – congratulated. A total of 1,269 people died from coronavirus in Lithuania and 632 people died from other causes.
